does paypal ever help you get a refund after 45 days have passed?

hey guys... I'm having some problems... to make a long story short, I've paid an artist (who is on deviantart and furaffinity, among other places) a total amount of $285 this year for artwork. the artist repeatedly ignores my inquiries, and is also ignoring other people who've commissioned them for art.

I'm at a loss... is it at all possible to get paypal to help you get your money back, several months after the payment was sent? has anyone ever had any success with cases like that...? if so, how did you go about it...?

If you're beyond the 45 days, PayPal does not have to do anything however, you can still try calling their Customer Service and hope you get someone who can help and/or offer advice.   It's a long shot but it's worth a try??? 

The only other thing is there is hope if you by chance paid by credit card through Paypal?  If so, you might be able to file a chargeback with the credit card company by calling the customer service number on the back of the card.  If not then I suggest calling Paypal as I mentioned above and see.

not too sure, my sister recently lodged a dispute, she was on day 46 and it went thru. but they say to make a claim even if the time frame is up, as it helps paypal keep track of sellers/buyers goings on, in my sisters case, her seller musta had too many dodgy dealings, straight after she lodged her case the sellers entire paypal acct got shut down for 180 days!!!!

one of the transactions is from back in march, so... yeah, it's been a while since I passed my 45 days limit. :/ I've noooo idea how chargebacks work... will have to call my bank, fingers crossed for answers. I did email paypal, too... this is a lot of money to lose, just like that.

If you can't go through paypal, the last thing I suggest is making a post over on the AB group. If more people are having issues like you are paypal might help in the matter OR if enough attention is brought to light the artist may step up.

the artist is .... well, I'd like to say they are aware, but in complete denial.

*smacks forehead* I didn't even put the two together! At this point, if you can get ahold of the other artists you MAY be able to get paypal on your side and get a claim in. If they see enough folks complaining they will help.

Looks like you have some good advice here     I think its got to be worth a try, even if it is a long time past the date - especially if others are having the same problem with this artist. I cant add any other advice to what you've been given already , but I wish you all the best with this and I hope that you get some of your money back at least

Well they never helped me after these 45 days.

First they tell you to wait cuz shipping from overseas took prolly a bit longer but on the other hand after 45 days are over you might be end up without any goods or the money.

I lost $136 this way (it was a arena problem - two years ago =()
So I always try to solve the problem before these 45 days are over to make sure I'll get my money back. I can resend the payment anytime again if the item will arrive after 45 days =)

yeah but in this case, it's an artist on multiple sites with multiple commissions still out (20-30) folks still waiting. That adds up to a large sum of money. It has been done before if a large group of people are left hanging, Paypal will help.

What a ridiculous person! Wasn't there an organisation that helped people with online frauds? At this point, after the artist has scammed so many people out of so much money I think it is safe to say that they should be legally prosecuted.
