To be honest, the way I reroot, I can't make plugs terribly thick. Thinness used to be a huge problem for me, so to rectify it, I started adding an extra row of hair in between the two original rows. It seems to work pretty well!

That idea is intrigueing! I'll have to try it. I do like a nice thick mane but I worry about splitting plugs, that seems like a good solution!

The nice thing about adding an extra row is you don't have to worry about the bald spot in the middle being visible. 8)

your opinions on genetics for mixing a glitter symbol with a non glittery symbol.

would it be weird to do part of the symbol with glitter and part non glitter?
should glitter be left out all together or all of it in glitter? (which do you think would genetically win be more likely)

what about partial metallic symbol with non metallic parts?

I'm not opposed to mixing glitter, metallic, and normal paints.  I think it could look really cool if done right! :)  As far as genetics go, I would treat the glitter trait like we talked about for the pegasus and unicorn trait: it's the recessive one.  It's really up to you though :)

yay, my baits are ordered and i´ll get them on monday, i got the concept and haircolors already too. ^^

handmade accersoires and twins sound great! but don´t overwork yourself, i´m just expecting one baby. ;)

mixing glitter and non is fine too, but maybe not one half with and one without but specific parts in glitter. (for example glittering petals on a normal flower?)  but i guess i didn´t mention ponies with glittery symbol anyway. XD

about the unicorn/peg/earth genetics, use which bait fits you the best! you are the designer!  :frolic:

next question:

is there a specific haircolor/hairkind you absolutely love?
(like for pink -> "old bubblegum", "tea rose" or "anything saran" or such? i just have nylon on hand, but could probably get some other kinds from a friend)

is there a specific haircolor/hairkind you absolutely love? pussycat pink and nylon are my favorites, but I'm really not particular. Use whatever. I'm good!

As for all the "genetics" questions, I don't care. Do whatever you think looks best and I'm sure I'll love it.

I'm generally fine with all hair colors, though, I am very fond of Delta synthetic from RetroDolls. I of course love nylon, but I also love saran, kanekalon (both human and doll grade), polypropylene, and synthetic. I've never encountered acetate, nylatex, or natural fibers before, so if you have an idea that somehow involves one of those, feel free to try it! The only things I'm not fond of are monofiber, Dollar Tree extensions, cheap wig hair, and yarn/embroidery floss. (Though, puffy yarn brushed out like a Perfume Puff is fine!)

Ooh, I do have a hairing question for all you expert customizers in this swap. I was hairing a non-swap pony yesterday, and I know I've heard from several places to use the little strands that dollyhair kind of naturally sepparates into for each plug, and they do look the right size but then when I put them all in the mane just seems on the thin side (I felt like this happned with the other pony I've rehaired as well and ended up using about two little strands together so it would be thicker). Is there a trick to knowing how much hair to put in each plug? Or does the hair just fluff up when it gets washed and styled after everything is in there and really those itty strands are enough? I haven't glued her in yet, so I could take it all out and redo it if I needed to. Plus I'm waiting on one more color to finish her up, but I'd love to get some input from you lovely customizers! I want to make sure I do my swap pony right! Thanks!

What gen is it? I usually do 2 'clumps' per hole for most ponies, I do add rows or more holes to a row sometimes (I love thick hair). Although babies don't normally have  super thick hair so I wouldn't worry about it this time around. I also noticed that some hair colors/types just look thicker. Like some of the pinks and whites look really thin even when they are put in at the same thickness. Like RJ said, it's up to you to play with it. It's more of an art than a science for sure ;)

oh, and i nearly missed a question:
would you mind a hairblend or would you prefer one color as one color?

this is an example:
i would blend a few similiar looking colors to make it look more natural and streaky, like here:
http://imageshack.us/a/img12/2986/bild82.png
http://imageshack.us/a/img819/6256/bild81.png
on the laying pony, there is hematite, black magic and pacific ocean in the blackish part and unlucky clover, mermaid, daquari ice and atomic turquoise in the cyanish part.

if you would like such a blend, would you prefer subtle or stronger, like on the grey mare on the left on the pictures?

For pink, I adore pussycat.  I like nylon a lot, but you could use whatever hair you wanted and I'd be ok with it.

Would you mind a hairblend or would you prefer one color as one color?
Hair blends are pretty, that would be fun.  :)  Again, up to you.

if you would like such a blend, would you prefer subtle or stronger, like on the grey mare on the left on the pictures?
Whichever works best with your plans.
