Help with restoring a Paradise Estate?
« on: November 23, 2012, 11:37:52 AM »
Hi guys! I'm picking up a paradise estate with original box and furniture tomorrow from a local seller! (and only for $25 too! ) She says that it does need a good clean up. What do you guys recommend for cleaning it up? Thank you!

It will really depend on how dirty it is and also if it still has the original stickers in it. If the stickers are still intact you can't get too crazy with soapy wet water type of cleaning so you may need to do just a general dusting with spray cleaner on a paper towel and then maybe spot clean on any tough areas with a Magic Eraser. You won't really know until you get it home though and see the condition. If the stickers are gone or in bad shape I would say go for it with sponging it down, scrubbing the corners with an old toothbrush, magic eraser it, etc. Really the stickers will dictate the way you'll be able to clean it up since you won't want to get those wet.

Congrats on finding it locally and for such an excellent price! You'll have to post pics once you get it!

Apparently this set has furniture and the original box...I am assuming that it has all the rooms! We will see!

Emery's got the right idea.
The roof sections, pool, and patio have no stickers from what I remember, so if you can get them apart, attack with dish soap and a toothbrush.  For the actual buildings and the furniture, avoid getting the stickers wet.  Wiping around them with a damp paper towel usually suffices.  Any non-sticker parts can be dumped in a bucket of soapy water to clean up.

Do be careful with the larger building sections, as many of them are fragile and get brittle with age.  The plastic is hard and will crack/shatter if you drop it on hard surface.
G1 Wishlist  It's the final countdown! Looking to purchase the last few G1's for my collection - Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies Foamy, Misty & Surfy - Red Roses - SHS Sweet Sundrop - Springy - Teeny Tiny Snookums (#2)

Wow what a great set to track down at such a price!

I agree with emery - its all subject to how dirty it is of course. I find baby wipes great for playsets as well - they remove dirt and grease without leaving residue or getting something wet.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
