couponing, layaway, and black friday

recently i picked up couponing and its amazing!
does anyone have tips and tricks for coupons?
also i was wondering about black friday. can you put stuff on layaway on black friday for the black friday price?
and are coupons accepted on black friday?

any help would be great. thank you

It always depends on the store... call ahead and verify with management that your coupons will be accepted and that layaway is an option.

Walmart does not allow layaway on Black Friday, unfortunately. I work there, and at least my store does not.

I don't work retail jobs anymore, but from what I understand isn't Black Friday stuff shipments set aside? Lay away won't work, or we would all do that def. Good luck though! I always have fun Black Friday shopping.

The Walmart where I used to live allowed it, but that was a few years ago and things may have changed. You should probably call yours and ask.

I doubt it, because Black Friday is traditionally *one* day prices, so everyone would do that instead of waiting hours in line and in the cold.

my wallmart here odesnt do layaway on black friday. and they dont allow coupons on it either ><

I would just check every store's individual policy - they may differ.

I don't even want to think about holiday shopping.

I've actually been following the whole "Can I layaway stuff now and get it at BF at those prices" thing pretty closely recently, and it seems that Wal-Mart is ok with this. At least, corporate on their facebook page is:

Walmart Hello Ingrid - If you have an any item on Layaway and would like to receive the reduced price during our Black Friday sale the item(s) would need to be deleted from the Layaway account and added back to receive the event price (or price matched whichever is lower). Keep in mind layaway will be closed until 9am on Friday (11/23). Event prices for items sold during our first two sales events at 8pm 11/22 and 10pm 11/22 are only available while supplies last so they may be sold out when the Layaway desk reopens.

The are some caveats however:

1. Item pretty much has to be the same. Can't put a an item on layaway and get it at sale price if there's some bundle action going on, cause that's not the same thing. Since they price match competitor's ads that day, I'm hoping they match their own.

2. Minimum Layaway price is $15. I don't know if this is per item or total.

3. Sale must be happening when you buy it. If item x is only on sale for three hours, and you aren't in line when it is, it's a no go.

4. Like dxgirly said, MAKE SURE YOUR WAL-MART'S LAYAWAY DESK IS OPEN ON BF. Some aren't, some are, be sure of this.

5. As far as asking stores if it'll work, I don't know. I've heard stories from "The lady was all, HECK YEAH IT'LL WORK!" to "You want us to price match layaway on BF? IMPOSSIBRU!"

Will it work? I dunno, but I'm giving it a shot. I'd rather wait in Layaway line on Friday than wait in the cold on Thursday and get elbowed in the face. I could spend that time watching Impact Wrestling, which is better than getting elbowed in the face. Marginally better, but still better.

As far as coupons go, I've read that Wal-Mart (corporate) is ok with coupons. Can't find that on-line now (I think iheartthemart.com has something), but if you want to do that, find that, print it out.

As always, YMMV, but me? I'm giving it a go and hoping for the best.

it sounds like if i ut stuff on layaway now i can take it out and put in back in on BF at the sales price? maybe i will try that... i will look up the coupon policy again, last time a looked at it i dot remember it saying anything about black friday.
