Probably once a week, I decide that I can't stand the clutter in my work space and clean everything but a couple WIPs and the paints that I'm going to need to finish them.  Then, the next day, I realize that I could really use another color on one of them, and drag my paint basket back out.  Then, I find that I had put a head of another WIP in the paint basket when I was moving everything, and decide to start working on that one, too.  Before I know it, I'm back to my little 8 inch by 8 inch clear spot on my desk.  It's a vicious cycle

From left to right:
Vamp pony needs eyes fixed and crystals on face.
Gala Fluttershy is pretty much on the backburner most of the time 
Blue pony waiting on hair and need to paint her head
White pony is for a private swap: sanding up next, followed by more sculpting 
Pink pony is going to be twin of the blue pony.
My ponysona pony. Needs touch ups, but I have to mix more of her body paint, then hairstyling.

What you don't see if the pile of paint to the right, and on the shelf above this. 
I try to keep my desk area clear since my bf and I are sharing my bedroom currently. That doesn't mean I don't have piles of crafting stuff elsewhere in my room though.  They're just in more out of the way places.

My husband, Eddie, has taken it upon himself to be my PR/Advertising department (in addition to shipping and receiving department).  Since everything got shipped out last week, he went into action (as he does every month when the last couple of ponies ship) and let the world know that I was open for business again and bragged about how awesome his packing jobs are and how everyone gets free goodies when things are shipped out.  The end result was a whopping 6 ponies and a pony plush to be made before December 15th, starting this weekend.  It's assembly line time!

This is the current state of the Coin-Operated Workshop.  I'm still in the prep stage.  What you don't see is the sewing machine under the desk, and the box of baits beside my chair, and the mess of paints and hair on the other side, and the desk drawer FULL of accessories.  I need to clean out my cubby-cubes tomorrow so that I don't lose bits and pieces of people, and I need to buy two more ponies tomorrow and some plush materials.

Cthulhu was actually started last weekend, when I decided that I was going to finally do something with the FS Rainbow Dash that had been sitting in the bait box forever now.  I started reading some Lovecraft stories and I had posted randomly online about how I should really make myself a big Cthulhu, since Eddie had made a small one (which he hates because he's kind of rough looking, but I love it because he made it).  A friend said that if I made it, he might be interested in buying it, and is going to pay me this week sometime.
