Poll: Which direction do you rehair?

I think about this question nearly everytime I rehair and wonder if there is really any benefit to doing it one way or another. I normally go from the bottom up, but today, in effort to use up some shorter pieces of hair with out wasting them, I decided I'd use them for bangs on my pony. Automatically, I started with the bangs once I made that decision. I guess it's because I had the bangs on my mind, but it's the opposite of my norm. So which way do you do it? and is there a reason why?

I usually go from top down, but on some pony heads I prefer actually to do one side from top down, and then the other side from top down (as in one column then the other)

sometimes with striped hair I'll do the stripe first and then the rest of the hair... sometimes I'll go from both bottom and top and meet in the middle .

It depends on the type of look I'm going for, like if I want a gradient to radiate out from the middle, I'll usually start in the middle and work my way out or start from both bottom and top and work towards the middle

That's another interesting thought, too, doing one column at a time. I don't, normally, because I feel like the first row of hair would be in my way, but I use the rehairing tool. If you use the thread method is it easier to do one row at a time?

I use the needle/thread method always works great for me. I normally start at the top, but I also count each hair plug hole. I do a lot of rainbow hair, so I suppose starting at the bottom wouldn't hurt honestly.

I use knot method, and that's why I always start from the bottom. If you go other way, you can damage already rooted parts.

I usually go from forelock to the neck base that's because I'm always afraid to run out of hair. I can hide some hair thinness on the base but a thin forelock is ugly :p it's also because this way I can look at my pony with only a few strands of hair and make it look fab

Top to bottom. As I hold the wad while I work, the hair gets pressed down by my hand and as a result I almost never need to wet it to tame it when leaving it straight, unless it is super short.

I recently started doing it top down, one column at a time rather than by rows, mainly because it tricks me into thinking that I've accomplished more than I actually have (especially helpful when rooting Fashion Style sizes where there's just sooooooo much hair).

Since i tend to do use a lot of different hair I tend to do it in order of how the plugs get made.  Like i'll go top to bottom on the with the inbetween colors, and go top to bottom again filling in the spots

Interesting, I feel it's a lot easier to go from top to bottom. I sometimes do the other way around (bottom to top) if I have a hard time picturing the hair colours, e.g. when doing gradients, or for some other reason if I have to. But I always prefer to start from the forelock.

I tend to do forelock to nape unless I'm doing a particular blend in which case I just do the plugs of that particular colour before moving on to the next.
I get confused otherwise and lose my place :p

lol that it does! lets you think "OMG almost done!" and also lets you get a clear picture of any gradients before you say waste a ton more hair on the other column if you decide you hate how it looks

I go bottom to top, but I do it in what's probably a weird way. I hair one color at a time because it makes me think I'm going faster. It also keeps my workspace neater.

For example, if I'm doing three colors, I'll figure out what stripe pattern I want then count how many plug holes on the longest side. Then I divide that by how many total stripes I'm doing. Then I count the plugs as I hair, skip the number of holes needed for the other two colors, and hair the next set for that color. When I'm finished, I pull enough from the skein for the tail and set it aside. Then I move on to the next color and repeat the process until I'm done.
