Lil Pocket restoration
« on: November 09, 2012, 01:00:38 PM »
So, I've got a poor Lil Pocket with a lot of issues. She has a missing tail, a crack running down her rear from her tail hole, and none of the plastic bits on her symbols! But she's so sweet, I'm sworn to fixing her up.

First issue: I bought the hair color which is supposed to be the blue streak and her tail, but when I got it, it seems a bit bluer and darker than the blue-green streak in her hair. If you guys like, I can show a picture comparing the two.

How would you guys recommend I try to reconstruct her symbols? I thought that Sculpey or Model Magic might be okay, and rather than glue something on to her, I thought I might make it wearable like a saddle by attaching a curved bit that would fit over her back... if that makes sense.

Anyone ever restored a Precious Pocket pony before and have some advice? And, does anyone have a close up of Lil Pocket's complete symbol for me to work from? Thanks! :)

The hair colour difference could simply be a minor colour change in the ponies hair with time and the conditions she has lived in - after all her hair is 20 years old, the hair you have purchased is shiny and brand new. Plus 20 years of colour pigment differences - you usually get a super close match with most colours but seldom is it exactly exact if you know what I mean. :) Which colour did you purchase?

You could also ask over in customs for some advice in sculpting, those guys and gals will probably be able to give you awesome tips and pointers.

For gluing the vinyl back together/gluing anything to the vinyl I recommend E6000. It dries clear and remains flexible for years, and won't damage the vinyl.
