Your opinion on a custom

So my husband challenged me to a custom, and I'd like your opinion before I begin.

I was challenged to make an Abby Scuito doll! So I was wondering..... who would make a better base? Ghoulia? or Draculaura?

Someone has already done this See here and used Draculaura as a base, but I'm wondering if Ghoulia would make a better base [obviously rehaired and all]

What do you think? and why?

I'm leaning more towards Ghoulia, even though the 'real' Abby has a wonderfully pink skin tone, because I can't help but think DLaura's a bit too pink, especially after seeing the other custom. Frankly, I believe you can do better, the example you gave seems a bit too...overdone, somehow. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome, and done with more skill than I can ever harness, but...well, opinions are like certain body areas, ya know !

I can't help but want to see her done differently, but I know yours will be defrightful, no matter which base you choose !

I hate to say it, if you don't mind having her blue and more 'monstery' Abbey would be perfect. She matches her jawline and face too well.

But Ghoulia would work too.
I don't think Draculaura's face works here.

Oh my god Abby. O AO;;; I honestly can't say for sure since I don't know face sculpts that well but I have to second everyone who said Abbey for Abby. It would just be hard with the hands she has so maybe you could use someone else's hands and give her a full body repaint. Then again, that'd also involve stripping down the glitter so I'm not sure how much you're willing to do for this custom and if that would be too much to do.

THIS! ..of course there will be much more work involved.. (or.. maybe not, except for the glitter and switching hands, Ghoulia would ask for a FBR as well. :>)


BTW.. please show us when you finish, no matter what doll you pick in the end. I want to see it, I love NCIS & Abby. ^v^

Hmm, perhaps she could just use Abbey's head on another body. I don't know why I didn't think of it.
A lot less work! No clue what would be done with the spare parts, though.. Maybe another custom in the future? ^_^

I have a whole bunch of pictures of wiped faces on my computer.  I looked them over and thought Abbey first but then dismissed her for all the obvious reason everyone already mentioned:)  I think Draculaura and Abby look nothing alike:(  I voted for Ghoulia because her sculpt has a wider (than everybody else, besides Abbey) nose, and pronounced cheek bones.  But I feel like everyone uses Ghoulia/Cupid for customs.  They are over used, IMO. 

If you choose to listen to the suggestions in the posts above, you could use a CAM Vamp body and an Abbey head.  The Vamp is a lot less pink than Lala.

I bet Cupid's white skin against the black hair and make-up would look SO AWESOME!  I think I want one of those for myself<3  One thing about Cupid is repainting the limbs.  I'd suggest getting the release that has white limbs painted black.

Great idea for a custom! I just love abby.

I had a good long look at some ghoul faces, and I actually think Ghoulia is your best bet.

Thanks all, comparing them [Abbey and Ghoulia] side-by-side, I think Ghoulia just has that strong jaw that actress Pauley Perrette [Abby Scuito] has. Now to find some black hair and figure out if I should use a new SS Ghoulia or the one I have.... hmm....

This sounds like a fun challenge! I love watching NCIS and Abbey is defiantly a favorite character. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

 I was thinking of doing a Abby later on for my mom, Abby is such a cool character, I was even able to get the lab coat from that Lagoona's set off ebay for a somewhat decent price   I thought I knew what base to use but after reading some posts here I think I will rethink some ideas that I had. I think the idea of Ghoulia or Abbey's base would be def. interesting. I agree with Dorriebelle on the one you showed us being kinda overdone that person had a great idea and it will still prolly look better than anything I do, it just seems that the custom is overwhelmed a bit am I the only one that thinks this?  You prolly already knew this but I found out that Blythe Pullip Martin Boots fit Monster High and some of the black boots that I have seen would look awesome on a Abbey custom. I love NCIS and Abby and can't wait to see what you come up with

I agree with Abbeys facial structure being the most suitable. I don't watch NCIS so I can't be of much further help
