Hoof Hearts/magnets Question
« on: November 02, 2012, 10:21:01 AM »
I'm not sure how to properly explain this but I'm trying to figure prices on ponies.
Some of my G3 ponies I compare the pictures to StrawberryReef and their hoof hearts aren't on the same side as shown in the pictures. Or the magnets are on a different foot than the heart.

I'm not sure is this a regular thing or some sort of collectible thing I need to note? Thanks.

If I remember correctly this was a relatively common thing in G3s. Not overly common though as I think it happened early in the line. Of course I'm just going on memory rather than solid proof so I could be incorrect.
It is a factory mistake none-the-less as the heart was supposed to indicate which hoof the magnet was in.

Value-wise I don't think it adds much. G3s are on a bit of a low ebb right now anyway.

As BluePhoenix says the hoof hearts were in theory supposed to indicate the hoof on which the magnet was but this was rapidly realised to not always be the case as in initial releases hearts were on the display side, i.e. the side facing "out" in the box and the same side as the cutie mark, whether that foot have the magnet or not. However, with later releases and in some batches of the same ponies they had their hoof hearts moved back to being on the "correct" hoof. I think the main ponies with the misplaced hearts are Butterscotch, Minty, Moondancer, CottonCandy, TaTaT, Winter Snow, Wysteria and Sweetberry.

I don't believe the hearts being in the wrong side increase the value much as it was quite a common thing with the G3s :)
