Splitting heads
« on: October 31, 2012, 10:44:25 PM »
The last 2 G1s I have re-haired I end up with scalp splits.  The needle edges seem rougher than usual, could that be it?

Xacto handle and wire cutters, Lewis.  Needles, Wal-mart.  I think I need to dull the tips a bit, also scraping up a finger pretty good.  Or maybe a smaller needle?  Using an 18 I think.

Are you opening the hole first with a push pin or anything?

Also, size 18 what? Tapestry? Embroidery? Darning? Something else? If it is Tapestry.. I would say yes. WAY too big. Go with a 22. I prefer an embroidery size 5ish.

I lied, it's a 1/5 darning needle.  That's the size I was using on G3s, but I think this couple got cut weird.  Now where is that nail file?
