For the past 3 days, Dad and I have been filling up on red wines. Thank goodness we stocked up. Seeing as how there's nothing better to do with no power out except eat and drink alcohol, right?

Also, thank goodness for smartphones- I never would have been able to get updates on the storm without it!

Sorry gang, power went out, came on, and well had to work and clean up.  We had two neighbors trees decide they like our yard to fall in but thankfully none of ours went.  Not too much rain thankfully, but the storm surge did a number on Long Islands lovely coast that is for sure.  We also had winds clocked in at 90 MPH which explains the large number of large trees that went down.  We are lucky though, the closer you get to NYC the worse it gets.  I feel for all the folks in NJ, they got hammered.

Power is restored to some areas near where I live but still not all, including most of my neighborhood. It'd be nice to get power back tonight because it's forecast to be in the low 50s for highs the rest of this week with lows in the 30s. Though taking a hot shower brings a sort-of fog into the bathroom because of the temp difference, very eerie. Gas station lines are about half or even 1/3 the length they were in the 1st day or two after the storm but at least one ran out of gas.

I just got power back finally!  Dad's first in line for a hot shower- and I'm next!  What a crummy week- we did enjoy lots of wine and candlelight solitaire though.
