East Coast US - Are you ready for Sandy?
« on: October 27, 2012, 03:10:18 AM »
I am prepared. I am expecting the possibility of rain, high winds and power outages.
But I can almost guarantee my power will go out. We have power issues on sunny days.
It is a tropical storm now. But they are saying it will get stronger again.
I hope you all on the coast are ready. I hope it doesn't flood out there. Flooding really scares me and I am glad I do not have to worry too much about that.

It is pretty massive of a storm. Plus it is going to collide with the Nor'easter. It is going to be a big mess. I am only really worried about the wind and trees falling. I can deal with power outages and rain. But the trees around here have taken a beating from past storms and that derrecho that came through here.

I'm just crossing my fingers and toes that is nothing like the Oct. storm we got last year.  Here in Massachusetts we were without power for 8 days!!! It was seriously the longest 8 days of my life. Wish we had a generator! :(  Let's all hope that the storm loses momentum!

It wasnt so bad here in Florida exp for the power outages. I'm actually enjoying the cooler weather it brought us. All my windows are wide open and getting plenty of nice breeze!

It is starting to get chilly here. I may have to close my windows soon.
They seem to be basically saying on the weather channel to expect the power to go out.
I know come Monday people will be scrambling. The grocery store is going to be busy!!

TBH, I don't know what to believe right now. They made Irene from last year seem like a big storm but it did very little here and that was a storm that went right up the east coast where I live. On one hand, I could believe it to be a big storm that does what they say it'll probably do but at the same time, given the nature of storms here (in which most die or weaken heavily enough to be little danger), part of me isn't quite believing it yet.

I know what you mean. I prepare for the worst and hope for the best though. It is funny, the weather people keep on saying "It's not like Irene!" lol. We will see.

Hello from a fellow Long Islander! Whereabouts on the island are you? Hopefully not too close to the water. We didn't get Irene too bad, so I'm hoping Sandy goes the same way. Heck, our power never went out! Thankfully we took out the huge maple in our backyard after Irene, so there's not much to worry about tree wise.
