Displaying Problem
« on: October 22, 2012, 06:56:18 PM »
Is it all right for ponies to lay down ALL THE TIME???? My ponies are all laying down in a bunch of drawers (except for the G3s) and I'm worrying if that's good for them. Thanks!

I don't see why that would harm them honestly :) The plastic is hard enough that it should stay in it's original form without any issues.

As long as there's not heavy stuff on top of them I think they should be fine.  I had some G1's in a box with other hard toys and some of them got a bit squished though not too bad.  Heavier boxes may have gotten placed on top of that box to aggravate the problem.  I also found that the ponies who were prone to having their legs squish together (usually back legs), so that they couldn't stand, were better off with something separating the legs when being stored in boxes like I did.  I like to put a nice firm packing peanut in between those legs.

Mine look like they got caught in a pony-blender and poured into my pony bin...  So I hope it's okay for them to be upside down too!!!   Gotta figure out a place to display them all someday...

I do not see any harm with having them on there sides. I had my childhood collection in a box for almost 6 years and they are still fine. Just dont put anything heavy on top of them. They should be just fine then :)

Ooh Emberfly that packing peanut thing is a really great idea!

I have to go along with what Ember said up there, don't put anything heavy on top of them- and if they're going to be in there for long periods of time, don't even put other ponies on top of them! I'm speaking from experience, I had all of my g3s stacked on top of each other in a nice, neat, orderly fashion, all lying on their sides in a container for the past few years and when I just took them out a little while ago, a lot of them now have bent legs!  >_<

Just remember that ponies were built to endure toy boxes and younger kids so they are pretty tough toys :)

That's very true.  I think the issue of caution comes from long periods of storage.  As PurpleCheeseStick and I can attest, long periods of time with the same pressure points on a toy, or any tough but flexible item, can squish or dent.  Ponies with harder plastic, like the big brothers, would be less prone to the point of being immune.

I dont think there is any difference in a pony standing up or lying down for a long period of time - they are reasonably hard wearing plastic as OL1 says.

The key is just to remember that pressure on top or against them runs you the risk of warping the plastic out of shape a little - although most of the time heat and freedom will fix that anyway.

Ok, thanks, everypony. Nothing's on top of them. They're laying on some nice soft towels. I just get these weird thoughts like, "should I be doing this?" or "are your ponies happy with this?" and I freak out. I have quite a few ponies, but I'm learning. Thanks for the reassurance.
