Let's do another off topic poll. (I credit GameFAQs.com for the idea.)

I prefer it to hang over the roll. Under the roll is akin to blasphemy and is not tolerable.

Sometimes, it might hang out on the sink counter before it makes it to the holder though. That's risky however, as it could fall into a damp sink.  Not fun.

I actually prfer to stand it up on my counter beside the toilet instead of on the actual dispenser.  Cramped turning positions to get the tp and all but even so I prefer for it to sit on the back of the toilet.

I'm with you, Stomper; must hang over the roll.  My old roommate and I could never agree on this; we each kept changing it! 

But I'm also with BlackCurtins; my cats will unravel it.  So now the roll stays in a cabinet above the toilet, and the point is moot.

Our toilet paper holder thingy is missing its bar so it just sits on top of it.

I prefer under the roll because the animals I live with (not talking about my pets ) tend to leave it unrolled onto the floor, which they also leave dirty because they can't aim. Thus under the roll: one quick downward swipe of my hand has it rolling back up neatly.

Over the roll is the right and only way. The lid of the toilet must also be kept closed at all times the toilet is not used. Otherwise I'll become really difficult to live with.

I always feel that if I keep it under the roll, it will get dirty by being dragged along the wall it's kinda silly, but there it is ^^

oh and yeah, many a toilet roll has been a victim of my kitties as well ^^

Under as kitties unroll.  Also must keep the lid shut as tiny cat keeps trying to fall in.
