Well that was a bad idea...
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:07:32 AM »
So I decided to take the pigtails out of my Draculaura from the pack with Clawd and I discovered that there is a ton of stuff in her hair holding it in place even after the rubber bands are out. Her hair is so stiff :( How can I get all this glue out of her hair?

A good shampooing with Dawn dish soap will do wonders for that.

I used soap on mine and it took all the gunk out :) But it was not glue, just gel...

What if one doesn't have any Dawn soap? Is there any other kind of soap that will work?

Yep, it worked for my Rochelle. She had tons of the gunk in her bangs and Dawn took it right out.

Any dish soap should do. I said Dawn because it removes grease better.

I used Dawn Direct Foam because that's what we use for dishes. I love that stuff. I can't see myself ever using any other kind of dish soap.

The glue that a lot of doll companies are putting into the hair of their dolls is alcohol-free hair gel, which is water based and should come right out. I've personally never even used soap to remove it (though it can't hurt), just some warm water from the tap and a little of my own hair conditioner combed in and rinsed out to prevent tangling.

Good luck with your Draculaura! :)

Okay, so as I was getting her hair wet, most of it came out. I used some shampoo and that got almost all of the rest out. I brushed her hair a ton but her hair still sticks up a bit so I'm using a hair scrunchie to hold it down while it dries. She still has some kinks close to her scalp from the rubber bands though  Any advice to fix those?

You can get rid of the kinks and "sticking up" of her hair with boiling water. :)

Boiling water? That won't ruin her paint or melt her or anything??

Nope! Although if you're really worried about it, you could just dip the comb in the boiling water and then brush it through. Someone suggested I try that with Venus so as to avoid getting her flocking wet (cos even the steam from the boiled water can make it come off).
