So I guess Peachy wanted to be different...

I just got back from a local Flea Market and found this oddball.

Here she is with my Blossom for comparison.

I started thinking maybe she lost her tail so someone gave her one from a Blossom by shoving it through the tail hole. So I start tugging on it to see if it would come out, but it wouldn't budge. And it looks like the washer might still be attached!

So I need a little advice.... Her head is glued on snugly and with the washer possibly still on the tail, this can't just be a tail swap. Should I take her head off and check the inside? Maybe see if the tail is legit or if it was just shoved in and wedged in so it won't move? In a way, I hope she's a legit oddball because I love ponies like these. :) Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

It's possible that the previous owner glued her head back on after replacing the tail :)

She looks good in purple!
Man who wear lampshade on head is bright!

This is a tricky one. If she was a factory error then removing the head will also remove any evidence that she was other then your account. But I can also tell you that I myself replace tails by putting them back through the hole without the washer. As long as you push it in past where it should be and then gently tug one side back out a bit it twists the metal clamp sideways and actually does stand up to tugging. As for the washer, I've found them wedged into the bottoms of feet before and therefore not rattling so that's not a foolproof way of checking either. I've also encountered washers so rusted they crumble away into flakes and dust too small to rattle.

It occurs that you may be able to check if the washer is still around the tail by heating the plastic around it enough to be able to squish around the tail hole. If the washer is still there you should be able to feel it that way. That may be the only definitive way to know without actually removing the head.

No idea, but maybe someone thought it was best to glue her head back on after playing swicheroo with tails.
Either way she does look pretty awesome with a blue tail. :D

Another thing to try is to hold her up to a really bright light :) I can usually see inside fine if I do that without damaging the pony at all.

Thank you for all the advice. :) I did feel around and it appears her tail washer isn't on the tail, but rather in the bottom of her foot. Oh well.... She does look pretty cute with a purple tail and she'll join my oddball Pretty Beat on the bookshelf in my office.
