Can you snap any photos? I bet we could tell by looking- and also ponypeople around here seem to have a lot of good advice re dealing with pony cancer- but it would depend on what exactly is going on -
This is probably too subtle and won't help much, but: There's a very subtle difference in the ends of the hair when it's cut. If it isn't cut, the ends are kind of softer and end very thinly. When cut, the ends are flat and, well, look like they've been cut. Of course, sometimes it could be cut at a slight angle, so that would make it look more natural. Hmm. This didn't help at all, did it?
