help! problems with hotmail, paypal in risk??

Hello!!

just wanted to see if i could find some help as im quite worried now D:

i just tried to login to my hotmail as usuall and i got  a message that someone else was using it, something like that. what does that exactly mean? someone got my password and got access to is?
is kind of like  when your account starts to send spam from i dont know who?

and this account is the one is bounded to my paypal, is there any risk that someone can take away the money i have on it?

please help, i dont know what to do, i already filled the form to recover my account but im worried

my msn always tells me that im logged into 2 places at once.
but its beyond me where the second place is...

if you cant change your password,  then  prehaps  make a new account and  deactivate the  account that is in question.

ok maybe i can help. do you have any sort of windows messenger? like windows live ? becuae  if you do.. and your active on it  when you open your hotmail it will say syour activei n 2 places becasue it logs you into messenger  when  your  in hotmail automatically.  but reguisters that your online twice.  and when you r in hotmail  your msn messages pop up ont he side.  hope this helps.

I don't use hotmail so I am not familiar with it.

But if you feel that your Paypal account is at risk I would log into your Paypal account and change your password.  Even if it is like Lorelei mentioned with messenger, it will give you a piece of mind anyways.

I do use Hotmail but I dont use messanger, and I havent come across this situation personally. It might be as Lorelei said, but I'm gonna agree with Ponylady too - if you are in any doubt as to the security of your Paypal, then change your password

This is actually quite serious.  This happened to my dad a few weeks ago, and we had to act fast to circumvent the hacker.

It's not that she's logged in at two places at once, it's that someone else is using her account elsewhere.  Meaning someone's gotten through her password and logged into her account.

What you're going to need to do is set up a second email account (I recommend Gmail), NOT another Hotmail account.  Do NOT use the same password you used for the hotmail account. Make sure your password is full on nonsense, with symbols, numbers, and upper and lowercase letters. Have that email account open in another browser window or tab.

Since your email is connected to Paypal, go to Paypal and switch your email account out for the new one. You're going to have to verify the email address, so be prepared for an email from paypal to verify it.

Once that's finished, go back to Hotmail (keeping your new email open in another browser).  When it gives you that message again, I believe there's going to be some sort of link underneath where you can try to verify that it's YOU that's trying to get into the account. Hotmail will try to send you the verifying link to whatever backup account the hacker has added onto the hotmail address.  There is some way around that - I think there will be a link that says "I don't have access to this [the hacker's] account", and there you'll add your new email address to the list.  Keep in mind that once that's added and you have asked Hotmail to send the verification email to the new email, it's also going to send it to the hacker email.  This is where you have to move REALLY fast.  Jump over to the new email account, and keep hitting refresh until you get that email from Hotmail. Open it and hit the verification link.  They're going to ask you to put in a new password, and again, do so with numbers, symbols, and letters.

ONCE YOU'RE IN: (VERY IMPORTANT)

Go into your account settings and remove the hacker's back up email address they put in there. That way he doesn't have immediate access to your account anymore.

IMMEDIATELY change your password again.  I know it sounds ridiculous, but I was taking absolutely no chances with my dad's account, in case this guy was trying to force his way in again.

oh! just for the record

i finally found out that indeed, someone was using my adress to send spam, more specific, the classic mails with no subject and with only a link on them.
i found that as i got a auto reply message from someone i never contacted, then checked my sent folder and i aw a lot of "no subject" messages sent to a bunch of people in my contact list, and then out of nowhere a ton of  " delivery status modification failure" messages got in my inbox

Oooh that happened to me and they tried to send spam out via my account and so I had to go through a whole bunch of settings to rescue my account. O.o
