Just a word of warning...
« on: September 18, 2012, 01:40:25 PM »
!!!!DON'T use Oxyclean to clean Baby Fifi!!!!
I used Oxyclean dissolved in WARM water and dunked her in, swished her around about 3 times, pulled her out...and her symbols were GONE! Ironically, she was the LAST pony I cleaned out of a lot of 21 and the only one that this happened to! I waited for the water to cool and I cleaned her last...ughhhhhhh. You can still see the poodles, but the paint is very faint and white.

How odd! I've cleaned several baby Fifi's with oxyclean, using the same method you did. :(

Oh gosh!

Personally I dont use oxyclean as I have heard similar-ish stories [symbols, eyes, blush, pock marks, etc] - not about Fifi in particular but various ponies.

However, that being said I have read plenty of success stories with it as well.

I would guess the difference could perhaps be the general condition off the paint and pigment of the pony rather than the oxy treatment - i.e. how the pony has been treated for the last 30 years; different conditions could result in different rates of deterioration which could be affected differently by oxy.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

You know, you're probably right, hathorcat - I just wasn't sure aif this was common with baby Fifi. I am so bummed out about her perfect symbols being wiped out that I think I am going to pass on Oxyclean from now on. It just seems that on more occasions than not, it does more harm than good!

I would be completely upset as well...I understand :( sorry Fifi is missing her symbols.

Don't use it on TEs either!  I was prepping a bait and it ruined the gems.
