Horses fun day

I work on a stable yard and the kennels on the same bit of land as us had an open day it was so much fun I thought I might share some of it with you. After at least a week of rain the sun actually came out so here goes.

so the day started out in the stables (as it always does) with apple on a string and breakfast. (as demonstrated by Tris 22 and biscuit 17)

then it was time for the three big horses to go out in to the field for the day and for the two little ponies to go and show off for a change.

the first job was for biscuit fancy dress as you can see he went as racing stripes but sadly it was getting to hot so we had to remove the quarter sheet to make him more comfortable. it did cost him first place but i would rather the 2nd and him happy than win and him grouchy

then it was on to mounted games the original idea was for the other pony to be the only one used but since biscuit was dancing around his "mount" decided that  she wanted to alternate between the two of them. which was probably for the best as the other pony was only on deaths door and in the vets for nearly two weeks with colic not a month before. (he had had the all clear before going back in to full work.) so I had to go all the way back to the stables to get mounted games tack and find a breast plate to fit and then get back in time. (this job keeps me fit)

anyway.... so the little girl did the first race on barney 19

while I tried to tack biscuit up who went in to the second but......

he would not stop at either end of the track for her so was quickly "fired" by her (me laughing because he was doing it on purpose you could see it in his face)

so after the kids came the adults races and I get to see two of my bosses looking very silly....

I would pay good money to have seen barneys face as his "uncle" goes in for the apple

So when all that was done it was time to go back home for a well deserved drink and to go back out with their mates.....

I have no idea where all of the people came from (I guess the hotel or something) but I am just glad that most of them are in the padock and not on the main part of the park but as you can see the tommy 12 (the grey) is already lapping up the love. while the barney and biscuit have a good roll ......

then he has to scratch his bum before he actually gets up.....

.......Barney is just as bad and has to eat (not like he has not been picking at grass all day)

and if that was not enough to do in one day some people had just got married up at the hotel and having pictures by the lake having most likly paid alot of money for the photographer to come they had to gate crash that as well

then the big ones came to join in as they felt left out ......

so basically just another normal day at the shop for me.

i think they all had a good day in all but it did show the next day as we got ready to ride Monty had to use little barney as a pillow he was that tired. you would not think that these guys can do a full day cross country looking at them. (please excuse monty's neck there is nothing wrong with him he just had a skin infection and the fur has not come back in yet)
