Lady Lovelylocks and Company
« on: September 16, 2012, 04:43:52 AM »
Hi all:

What's a good price for Lady Lovelylocks dolls, both MIB and Mint out of box?  What about pixietails?

(I had a Lady Lovelylocks watercolor book as a child, and I remember thinking that she was the most beautiful girl in the world  :))

She is lovely!  The dolls can vary a lot in price, were you just wanting Lady Lovelylocks herself?

The dolls do vary a lot based on condition, which doll, which clothing, if they are in good shape or not, if they have regrind or other plastic damage. :) looking for anything specific.

I was wondering about Lady Lovelylocks, and maybe one of her ladies-in-waiting, in mint condition (not necessarily mib) and those little pixie tail things, in mint or near mint condition.  I love the pixietails but I don't want to overpay for them.

I know nothing about dolls  :|

I would guess you could get a pretty nice Lady Lovelylocks for $20 or less if you keep hunting.  The nice ones often have pixie tails still.

MIB Lady Lovelylocks seem to be going for around $80-100.  Loose ones usually are in the $20 range if they are in good condition.  Pixietails you can usually find in lots for $20 and under for about 10 of them.  If it is a rare pixietail it might go for more.  There are a few that seem to be about $10-20 alone, but usually pixietails are no more than $3 each if they are alone.

I have a crazy error box Lovelylocks that I don't know how I should price her.  She is in a Fairhair box with the chipmunk pixietails of Fairhairs, but it is Lovelylocks in there.  It is definitely a factory mistake.

Oh and Ravenwaves usually goes for a bit more even if she is out of box.  Her comb gnomes go for more as well.

I think I have a doll actually but she isn't exactly minty.  Want me to look?

If those are the going prices these days, I somehow doubt I will ever get my hands on them.  So sad... I love LLL but have none of my childhood things left.

You can find pieces here and there.  Say a doll who needs a trip to the salon for $5ish, and a dress for $5, etc.

Prices vary a LOT- but you can always get fixer uppers in the $20 range.  Agree with above- also some of the mermaid LLL dolls can go for a lot (Mistycurls and Curlycrown)  The kittens can also be super expensive if in mint or MIB condition.
Also the Sparkle Pretty Lady Lovely locks is always wicked expensive- in and out of a box- over $50 if complete.

Fixer uppers fix up very nice in this doll line!  The hair looks fabulous with a wash/condition and set in rollers. Comes out looking just like new!

Oh- another thing to keep in mind is that all of the Enchanted Isle dolls (mermaid dolls) and Prince Stronghearts have white discoloration on their legs-  I think that the batch of plastic they were using that year just didn't set up correctly or something.  It is not cancer and it does not spread- but it is sometimes sticky .  Just don't panic when you see it (most obvious on the Enchanted Island dolls since they can have short skirts)
The regular dolls don't usually have this issue---

I think I actually have managed to collect all that there is to collect in this line- I love these dolls.

Oh! Just remembered another thing to look out for-  the doll heads are attached with a plastic ball joint- sometimes this joint is broken so watch out for dolls that look like their head is sitting low on their neck...

You're making me want my collection again.  I just sold most of my mib dolls.  I still have my childhood ones but they were played with and have some wear.  Nothing too bad.
