MH Boys Appreciation thread???

Has anyone started one yet? I feel like so many people don't like the boys (which is fine- more for ME! ) but I thought it would be fun to have a place for those of us who do like/love them to post. I'll snap some pix this afternoon.

I like my boy dolls, but I don't love them. They just haven't released one with a style that really works for me unaltered, other than maybe Signature Jackson.

I'm with Keelee, I don't love any of the boys yet but I do like them. Clawd's my favourite. And HooDude is pretty awesome. I also like the vampire and gargoyle boy CaMs... especially the gargoyle! He's got such a sweet face

Wow Ravie, tons of boys!!

So my 5-year old did NOT want to take a bath and was in one of those contrarian, I-don't-want-to-do-anything-you-suggest moods, so I thought I'd try taking a pic of my CAM vampire boy in the bubble bath washing his hair. I got a pretty blurry pic, (steam kept fogging up my camera ) but kind of saved it and what-do-you-know? Photobucket is having 'issues' again. I will try to upload it tomorrow.

(My 5-year-old is happily playing with him in the tub swimming him around, who knew vampires were such great swimmers?)

A Canon EOS 550D/T2i. It was my 30th birthday present last year. There's more to taking a good photo than just having a good camera, though. If you know what you're doing, you can get a good shot out of just about anything, including a homemade pinhole camera.

jk I know but my camera is horrible, it's being all foggy. And when I get a new one I want to know what to buy. Thanks!

No, it's just that people are always asking me what kind of camera I have, as if having a nice camera is the only thing that matters. You can have the fanciest camera in the world and still take crappy photos if you don't know anything about photography; in contrast, you can have a crappy camera and still take great photos if you know what you're doing.

I suspect that many people's cameras aren't quite as crappy as they seem to think they are; they just don't know how to use them. For instance, I wonder how many cameras are getting blamed for taking blurry photos when really it's that the camera is being held too close or is being used by hand in low light conditions that require a tripod.

I'm not suggesting that's the case with you. Some cameras really *are* crappy (or no longer work properly because they're too old or whatever). I'm just saying that having a good camera is only (a relatively small) part of what goes into taking a good photo. Having a working knowledge of photography (composition, lighting, aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, and so on) is much more important.

I use a Canon Digital Rebel T1i. It's an expensive, high-end camera, but for the longest time I didn't know how to use all the settings properly. You can't just leave it on Auto, you'll get a lot of mediocre shots that way. I got lucky and my husband learned photography for his profession this year, so he has been teaching me how to use my camera properly to get the best shots under several kinds of circumstances.

I am learning, but you can easily tell the difference between the photos my husband takes and the photos I take. 90% of photography is the person behind the camera.
