Nylon for MH custom?

Have anyone used Nylon dollhair while customizing a MH doll? I'm making a Martian out of a Frankie and the colour I would like for her hair is only available in Nylon. I know the Mh dolls usually have Saran or Kanekalon for their hair so if anyone have used Nylon i would love to see a picture of it.

Also, is 3x38" hanks of Kanekalon enough for a Spectra lenght rehair on a doll?

I can usually do a pretty full hip-length with around 3/4 of a 38" inch hank. If DH's Kanekalon hanks are the same size as the saran ones then I'd think it would be about the same? D:

I haven't used nylon personally but I did see some reroots on Flickr and they looked pretty good.

I prefer to hair in nylon, saran gets too tangly.  I can't remember off the top of my head how much saran is needed.  I know it would be enough if you were doing nylon, but I'm not sure how the hank sizes compare.  I'd think so, but I'm not 100%.

I always use nylon hair on my custom dolls and ponies. I actually just go to the my little pony section of dolly hair Dolly  hair nylon for the ponies is 38 inches, and I use two full hanks, and one quarter of a third hank to rehair monster high dolls. She's rehaired with nylon too, which is actually quite lovely. My curling ability is less than lovely
I've always been really happy with how it comes out looking.

As a side note, before I curled her hair, that dolls hair reached to her ankles, as a point of reference of length. I just halve the skeens, if you wanted it shorter you could probably get away with two skeens of hair, just cutting it into thirds or something.

I've used nylon once for a MH reroot.

This is Rusalka, rehaired in DH nylon Sea Nymph and saran Mint Ice.

The only problem with kanekalon is that is what Spectra is rooted with and both she and Venus can shed in clumps if you are too hard with brushing.

I think yes you should be fine. The nice thing about dolly hair is that when you put the hair down after cutting it from the hank, it tends to seperate in almost perfect pieces for plugs. Mind you, I use the needle and thread method, but I think the plug size might be about the same size for a rehairing tool too.

Frankie, I'm not sure about the exact size, but I would try to go with as fine a needle as possible, while still being able to get the hair into the open eye of it. The holes around the hair line [the outside edge all the way around the head] are very close together and rip very easily, so it would be best along there, and the part, to try and use as small a needle as you can get away with.
