Sun Fading suggestions? (pictures now)
« on: September 13, 2012, 09:14:13 AM »
I have about four pony girls currently out sunfading. They are out there today because I'm out sick, but normally during work I cannot leave them. We have a tiny little patio type thing outside, but we live in the country and neighbors leave their dogs out. One time in the summer I had to run one off trying to get my things. We did have a dog gate, but that tore up so it's an open patio area.  Two of my girls are Argies and really need the sunfading, but a few days a week it will take a while. I wanted to ask suggestions.

How could I secure the ponies while away at work to avoid coming home to missing feet?  Leaving them in a window sill is not an option. We do not get a great deal of sun in the window.

I also saw someone mentioning in the trader support forum mentioning that remove-zit stuff. I've never used it, does it work well? I also noticed it saying that the product was gone/changed. When googling it I saw another site carrying it, but is it the same as what some of you use?

Anyway helpful suggestions. The girls I have right now
Cherry Treats- sunfading because she's off color
Hollywood-discolored muzzle from stains, almost normal again
Argie Twilight and North Star- marker stains

Most of my ponies I'm sunfading have marker or strange stains. Anything that is helpful with removing those would be great.  ^.^

Here you go, an idea of my small little back patio/porch type of thing. It then opens into a back yard. I do share that though.

My porch here (no worries Nightlight isn't staying out there not covered up, she's just hanging while I walk the dogs and airing out)

Remove-zit will discolor any pony that isn't white. I sunfade on the dashboard of my car.

That won't work for me. Neat suggestion though since I had never thought of that.

That's actually pretty cool, and it would be hilarious if someone came by to see what vicious creature was in the cage.

May I ask where it came from? Might have to look into it.  My ponies would be in pony jail. :P

Can you somehow hang them from a tree or a clothesline? LOL. Someplace the dogs won't be able to reach.

Hmm well our neighbors have big dogs, but I'm also paranoid people will think I'm a weirdo if they see ponies everywhere outside.  Right now they sit on the railing of my balcony, and if I could somehow secure them to it that would be great.  Most of our trees are in the woods which is shaded. A clothes line would work. I just worry because the one people thinking I'm crazy, but also my neighbor has a three year old daughter. She plays in both our yards during the day when she's home. I don't want her to hurt herself trying to get to a cute toy that she can see. Normally I try to kinda put them where her daughter cannot see them. I have this fear she will climb up on the patio (it's like up on stilts) and then fall off or something.

I'll look and see if there is somewhere a clothes line could go without being in an odd space. Can you hang them like right above the back door?

My first warning would be to watch Cherry Treats she can sun burn quite badly. Second remove zit can be aggressive mainly as it continues working even after you think you have removed it all - I have seen in strip dye from plastic and yellow white plastic - check out the cleaning thread at the topic of the corral of a poor Seashell who had acne cream on her.

Personally I am not sure leaving them out at all is a great idea - from experience with naughty dogs putting something in a light crate like that is temptation to suss a way though! Or that may just be my naughty dog!

Its tough to think of an option without knowing what your outdoor space looks like but personally I would just be trying to come up with a way to place them as high up as possible - even if that involves a table and lots of boxes stacked safely and securely on top of one another.

I'll post a picture of my backyard morrow then in the daylight to help. I have been putting them on the railing (make sure to get a picture of that when i take it) which is pretty high up. I'm just always afraid of the poor things falling, so I need to come up with a way of securing them I suppose.

What about securing them by their tails? Wrap a zip-tie or ropes around your railings, then clip them to the rope or ties by their tails with a chip clip or binder clip?? Lol. I'd make MacGuyver proud (not)

Ps- yeah, you don't want to hang them in reach of young children...

Hmm they don't have tails right now actually, but maybe running some sort of line through them then? What would be a good one that wouldn't damage the girls?

Hmmm...you're probably best stacking them up on some boxes like hathorcat suggested. Sorry, I can't think of anything else, really.

Ps-is that a miniature schnauzer? If so, I have one, too. She's AWESOME!

Take them to a friend's house that does get sun in the windows, or borrow use of their car's back window if it's just parked and not going anywhere?
