Monster High Knock off?
« on: September 11, 2012, 05:43:14 PM »
I am sorry if this has been addressed before- I looked for a thread and didn't see it...

I keep seeing these dolls (this is the first time packaged) on Taobao.  It looks like they took MH heads and slapped them on some random body.

Hahaha, there's no way stealing the name will end well with whoever is making them. However, I really like that box. o 3o;

They are wickedly cheap (of course) but unfortunately, shipping from China is not.  I am sure they will not be sold in US Markets with that packaging (trademark laws in China are very different).

I wish they had some of the boys-

I guess Hasbro has been selling off lots of extra pieces for many years.  Do any of you remember those bizarre Jem dolls pieced together from random heads/bodies (male and female) and clothing? I forgot what they were called- they were sold in dollar stores...  I am always looking for them on ebay but they are scarce :)

Oh my.. this is just silly, I am sooo confused here. I know they are knock offs but the whole putting weird dolls in close to exact packaging that MH dolls were made in is just goofy. I can't help but laugh, its just so confusing. Nothing like slapping a bunch of stuff (graphics and such) together and calling it a day!
I'm still trying to figure out why there is a mega spider in the gloom beach box which contains dolls that are not wearing beachwear! Lol mind boggling

It really is an interesting jumble.

Fakie Frankie appears to be wearing a Sailor Moon outfit...

Is it bad that I kind of want these just for the comedic factor?

I love Fakie Ula D's hair. Frankie's hair, on the other hand, what is going on? Frankie has never had red in her hair.

I also love how the 5-pack is 2 Fakie Frankies, 2 Fakie LaLas and 1 Fakie Clawdeen.

I wonder if the heads were failed/extra color tests (for hair)

I think they do a lot of color tests- this would probably be more likely than the cheapo company that bought the extra heads actually rooting each of them.

The pack works out to only about $6  (but again- the shipping, the shipping....)

These don't scare me but the one thing that DOES scare me is that creepy cat in the 5-pack...

O.O

Oh I think they are great for the comic factor-  The pets are especially bizarre (scary cat and cheap-ass bat and spider)

If I had more room.... but I don't need more dolls around just because they are funny and weird.   I hope I don't regret it down the road when they are long gone, lol
