I am so jealous right now! Supposedly there's an outbreak of them here in Miami. I wish I could find out where exactly and go rescue a few. Although the health risks kinda freak me.

I *think* that Miami is one of the places where they have been a problem in the past, my memory deserts me so i can't remember exactly when. There are huge fines in place if you get caught though, and all restricted livestock would be destroyed I'm so lucky in the UK, bugwise there aren't a lot of restrictions on anything because of our crappy climate.

when I was little I used to see things like this all the time I thought they were albino flys, but I haven't seen any at all since the 90's do they live in michigan? if not do you have any idea what I could of saw then?

Nobody follows animal laws here, but yes, we've had two outbreaks in Miami and they're considered a threat to the environment and buildings, so I'm pretty sure they're illegal or highly restricted.

These are whuhu bugs that are native to New Zealand.  I posted a pic of this a while ago - after a nasty incident when I found myself with one of these pressed between my pillow and my naked back!     They don't sting or bite as such but they fly around and they sure are ugly!

MidnightFireflies, what an unusual bug.  It almost looks like it's been photoshoped onto your hand, lol (not saying that it has, just that it looks like it).  I don't think I would have been brave enough to let it crawl on me *shudder*

I've seen one of these before!  But he was swatted off my friends leg before I could take a picture.  She was not happy.  I was not happy it disappeared into the grasses after she swatted it.

Be careful with musk mares. They'll spray a foul liquid at you if they feel threatened, and they aim for the eyes.
