Hasbro Softy Firefly Clean Up!!

I want to share my latest clean up with everyone!!!

I was lucky to have a friend help me get this poor Firefly off ebay. I believe we payed four dollars for her. As you can see, she was disgustingly stained

But Firefly is my favorite pony, and when I saw this poor girl I melted into a puddle of thundery creamy goodness. I wanted to help her, and since I long ago traded away my Firefly softy (stupid me) I was ready to have this one in my arms again!

I hand washed her. It quite literally looked as though someone spilled a coffee product on her and she was left this way. I massaged laundry detergent right into the stain (risky at times, I know, but the stain was bad) and when that didn't work, I went to the bath tub, going past surface washing on to a deep cleaning. The water ran brown It was disgusting! I wish I'd taken picture though!! I rinsed her endlessly, included a bit of softener, and about a dozen towels later (squeezing out excess moisture) I put her in my lap and got to work on her hair. Brittle, frizzy, but not beyond repair.

Here she is after getting deep cleaned and defrizzed!!

She lives on my chaise lounge now, and I'm still slowly adding more curl to her hair via curlers and a lamp, and she'll be getting a ribbon in her hair soon!

Does anyone have advise about repairing the embroidery on her symbol though (it's the only place, aside a corner of wing, that the stain refused to come out of) I am toying with the idea of hand stitching it myself, but I rather like her as she is, all worn in with love

wow you did amazing...I got this same pony from a flea market and mine didnt look nearly as bad but I used dish soap (should of used detergent right) and a toothbrush to lightly go at her to try to refresh her pink...then let her dry ,these plushy are so adorable,congrats

How did the dish soap work? o.o! The detergent worked well o0nce she was submerged and I could attack the stain by hand. I brushed the fabric back up multiple times as she sat drying to keep it fluffy.

If someone did spill coffee on her - seems likely from that stain - then she really needed the deep clean. She looks lovely, I should send you my softy ponies in future. For her symbol you can either get a matching embroidery thread and touch it up by hand, or if it's not going to fray out any more then I'd just leave it. She's adorably loved.
