Anyone have any clue on how to fix this?
« on: August 31, 2012, 04:39:28 PM »
Okay so I got this Princess Dawn.... her face is seriously screwed up. The previous owner tried to clean her and messed up the eye too, that I can fix, but these marks on the face... they're something else...

These marks look like they are in the plastic itself. I checked the inside the pony and she's totally clean inside. I have to say though when I curiously smelled the marks, they do seem to smell moldy... so it's like it's mold that is embedded in the plastic itself. The face is totally smooth, so there's no damage to the plastic....

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? She's nearly in perfect condition except for this... but if I can't fix it easily I'm going to just give her an FBR in another color and rehair her, especially since her hair as it is drives me insane.

I can't tell for sure but it looks like vds to me.  Very common in the doll community- and very difficult to remove. That one looks really deep.  Here is some advice from Tania's SSC site. http://www.strawberry-shortcake.net/DollInfo/VDS.htm

It might be easier to paint her...

Agreed or maybe a gentle rub in acetone? Just watch any blush etc :D

hmm... maybe I'll have to try that remove zit treatment from that link...

and I dont really want to go through sunfading on this one... I don't feel like it's worth it with the damaged eye and the fact that I hate the stupid tinsel forlock on it.

if that remove zit doesn't work I'll do an FBR and rehair and I'll have a donor tail available

Zit cream and sun. Just make sure the cream has benzoyl peroxide, not salicylic acid.
