Factory error misplaced tails
« on: August 27, 2012, 03:19:08 AM »
I don't know whether its just my luck or what but I seem to have had a big run of getting g1s with misplaced tails!
Has anyone else found lots of so softs seem to have misplaced tails? so far 3 out of the 5 I own do!
This is the most extreme example

Also does it affect values at all? Personally I don't care less about factory faults but I dont know if others do?

Thanks xx

Poor pony!! I only have one case like that (that I´ve noticed) and it'S my shy pose Confetti. She's not as bad as the poor pony you posted, but it's quite obvious.

As for the value, I can speak for myself. I am not a pisky collector and few things turn me off with ponies, but this would be one of them :S I consider this a major flaw

This is "standard" for So Softs :)

The "dent" in the plastic is actually in the mould for the pony and its designed as a guide for where the tail should be positioned. So what happens is the pony is "flocked" before the tail is added in the factory therefore when it comes to placing the tail and positioning it over the guide "dent", the guide "dent" cannot actually be seen and consequently the placing of the tail is a little random. The odds are on just about every deflock you will see this. Its a super handy way to make sure someone cant pass off a deflocked Truly or Cupcake as genuine NSS.

My g3 Sunny Daze has this problem, though not to that extreme. Personally, I would pay jut as much for a pony like that as I would for a prefect one, but I love ponies with quirks! I can't really speak for the rest of the market, though, sorry!

Oh good to know.  And that is wild, ours I guess had not such thick flock and there tails landed where they are supposed to be.

Some factory errors are kinda sought after/cool. I know that I love miss stamped symbols or wrong symbols on ponies :D

To some people she might even be worth more!
