Pony Storage
« on: August 24, 2012, 12:56:14 PM »
I'm not a display person and prefer them in boxes. I just wanted to ask those that also do long term storage tips to keeping the ponies kept up well. I keep them in a room that is well our house is always kept at a cold temperature. They stay in a shallow tub where they are standing and are wrapped in tissue paper. I want to put them in zip lock bags with the little Sillica packets. I know people mention moisture being locked into the zip locks. Would they be fine if they have the packets in there though? I want to separate my winger and flutter boxes into like "Cool Breezes, Sky Dancers ect" to avoid having to unwrap each one to see which girl it is.

Would this be a decent way of storage or cause issues?

just remember with the silica packets, they can only absorb so much moisture , you need to buy them new in a sealed container, if you pick them out of pill bottles and other places then they will be used up, they do not keep absorbing forever, they only hold so much!
the big thing you want to avoid is temperature highs and lows, and temperature swings, and you what to keep it at the same humidity, like 50 percent. keep it out on sunlight, store them on an inside wall, keep them out of the basement and store them in a rat prof bug proof container

A good idea is to take a paper punch and "punch" little "breathing" holes/vents in the corners of the baggies. Add in a silica pack and you should be fine from there! :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
