Difference between normal and long-hair Applejack?
« on: August 23, 2012, 09:48:47 PM »
I just got an Applejack off ebay, and I'm trying to figure out if she's the long-hair version.  Her mane seems longer than other AJs I've seen, but she has no forelock so I am wondering if she's a rehair.   Any tips on what the long-haired version is supposed to look like?

I sold my long-hair AJ so I don't have them to compare side-by-side anymore, but I remember if you grab long-haired AJ's hair and pull a strand straight down, it goes almost to the bottom of her hoof. The short-hair version definitely doesn't stretch down that far. Not sure if they both have forelocks, perhaps someone else can clarify that.

The long hair version is just the curly hair version that lost it's curl. I had the curly haired version of AJ as a child. You can really tell the difference. There's no forelock and it's really noticeably long when straightened.

Yes its a pretty obvious difference - long hair almost makes it to the ground and short hair curls a little under her chin.

I am sure someone will pop in with a comparison picture for you and if not I ll grab one tonight to help :)

I have both, and there is a heck of a length difference as Hathor stated :) It's pretty easy to tell the 2 apart if they have not been trimmed.

The long hair/curly hair version tends to be pretty easy to come across, but not as easy as the shorter hair cousin.

My experience is just the opposite! I have had a lot of AJ's pass though my hands but never a long haired version.

Thank you.  I guess mine may be a genuine long hair version, then.  I didn't realize they had no forelock.  :)

After MANY years of collecting, I finally acquired a long-haired Applejack and Bow Tie in absolutely mint condition!

The first difference for me is that their hair falls the opposite way, and not unnaturally so - is this the case for anyone else?

On all of mine, long haired and short haired, the hair falls on the display side.

Congrats :) I think the long haired version is so much prettier!

Mine fall long hair to the front and short hair to the back - on both AJ and Bow Tie. If you judge them on how they were packed this is the normal way as they were packaged with the short hair to the non display side and the long hair along the back or to the display side.

And here are the comparison pics I promised - hope it helps clarify for you :) The curl on the long hair makes it look shorter than it is especially in comparison to the die straight hair of the short haired one.
