Adult collectors vs. a child's toy...

Do you think there are more adults collecting dolls than there are children playing with them? I for some reason think more adults are collecting!!!

No, I think there are still more children playing with dolls than adults collecting them.

I think there are more children playing with dolls at the moment. If dolls were adult collectables, they wouldn't be in the Toy Section at stores, if you ask me.
I took a break from the Arena from a couple months due to school and other things in my life. But I'm back now!

I agree with Kat and Jiggles, though I will add that it seems like there are more adult collectors right now, probably because of Monster High. Ponies are a gateway drug.

I couldn't agree with that last statement more! I want a MH doll now all of a sudden; when I bought them for my nieces in the past, I thought I'd pass. Figures. Oh, and judging by the number of MH dolls my nieces & their friends have, I'd say more kids play with them.

There are lots more children buying MH for play than there are adults buying them for collections.

Take a tour on Pinterest and check out all the MH party ideas for little girls. Monster High is super-popular right now with the 6-10 bracket, it seems.

In my opinion, I think there's more people with children that go through stores every day compared to collectors. Like an exaggerated ratio of 1 collector per 20 families that went to a store. :P

There are more kids I am sure-

but there are also a lot of parents/aunts/grandmas that are attracted to the dolls- and buy them for the kids as a result-

So the adult appeal is not coincidental...

I'd say more kids.  But I find it's something that adults enjoy with their children.  Its a blast if you can share a love of a toy with a child.  My son loves to play with my baity ponies/the vintage toys in my collection and it makes it that much more fun for me.  I played with many of them when I was little so seeing him enjoy them is really special for me.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

I'm going to have to go with kids. Hmm...if I'm a 14 year old collector, which group do I belong to?

Anyway, I see where you're coming from. Sometimes I think collectors must be raiding my toy stores, considering what's gone is the ones that are popular with adult collectors.

Kids.  No question.  When I go to the toy department, are there adults blocking my way?  Yes - they and their swarms of young, all begging for this that or the other!  Kids.  Definitely kids.

*chuckle* Yup, pretty much. I usually get either kids everywhere, or adults who are staring clueless not sure what to buy for whoever's birthday it happens to be XD

Yes! I don't know how many times I've given advice to people staring at MH dolls wondering why they can't find a Spectra or wave 1 Frankie LOL

It probably feels like there are more adults, since we spend all of our time with the collecting communities.  But there will always be more kids playing with toys than adults.
