This might sound like a silly question, but...what is 50p in GBP?

So I had asked a question about pony shipping, and she said it's an extra 50p per pony added to the original £4.75.

So is that sort of like "cents" in American terms? So if I bought 4 ponies, that would come out to £6.25?

Yeah, I think it means pence, which is like their cents.

I used a currency converter and as of today 4.75 British pounds sterling = 7.4537 US dollars.

So if it is 50p more per pony, I think 50p=.78 US.  So your total USD would be $9.79 and £6.2388 British pounds sterling.

If I am wrong I apologize but I think that is correct.

Yep you're right - it would come to £6.25  for the 4 ponies, and yes our "Pence " is like your "Cents "
50p  (or £0.50) is half of £1.00 as Mercynova mentioned

£6.25 is $9.81 according to  XE currency converter right now, so very close to what Ponylady made it earlier.
