Question regarding styling pony hair.
« on: August 11, 2012, 05:51:45 PM »
I have a question to everyone that styles hair. Whenever I see others photos when they've styled the hair looks so soft when it have just been dried. But whenever I wash my dolls or ponies hair it turnes very stiff when it have dried. I am very careful and I rinse all the conditioner from the hair , but still it's stiff and need to be brushed out when dried. It also get stiff even if I just wash it with water. And having to brush it sometimes ruins my so hard worked hairstyles >:

What do you all do to make the hair so soft right after it being washed?

I personally use conditioner too and brush the hair a couple times while the hair is drying so it doesn't dry in that particular way in which I laid it out to dry. I've never had it clump or anything.

I'll run my finger down over the individual curls, just over the top of it so the style isn't ruined.

It just softens it so it's not stuck together.

As long as I ensure the hair has had a soak in conditioner prior to drying, I havent run into that kind of problem.

What do you use to wash the hair? Just shampoo?

I was told by a doll collector a couple of weeks ago that she uses Son of a Gun vinyl spray on dolls hair - but I am yet to test this stuff out to see if its as effective on nylon hair as she claims it is.

I have a few ponies whose hair ended up very stiff because I actually forgot that I left the conditioner on the hair. (Went back and thought "What in the world?" But, rinsing it well has worked nicely for me. I still have some hair that's a little stiff, but just rewetting it normally worked for me.

That is odd then :(

Perhaps try a different conditioner? Or leave the hair soaking for longer prior to rinsing the conditioner off?

Try herbal essence it's amazing and leaves the hair so soft :)
