Has there been a recall on mlp in the past?
« on: August 08, 2012, 02:47:27 PM »
This is somewhat off topic but I tried googling this and couldn't find any information. My daughter just recieved alot of my old ponies and I was wondering if there has ever been a recall on any mlp products from mainly the 80's early 90's. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

No, I don't think I've ever heard of one.

I know some fakies were recalled for lead content.  But I think they were more recent ones.

But I agree with the above I have never seen a recall for the My Little Pony line.  If the G4s ever get recalled it will be for small parts or something. So you are safe!

Besides the magnets that they stopped putting in the G3s hooves because some kids were able to remove them and they became a "choking hazard", I've never really heard of a recall...

Wasn't there something about the G2 pony Hip Holly?
I checked google and can only find some small bits of info about it.
On the old arena i found this:

"Apparently they are quite rare because there were recalls on them. My friend in France had her but her mum had to return her to the store due to a recall because of the plastic - so the slimey thing is a real problem with poor Hip Holly!"

True? I am not sure.

There was a lot of speculation at the time it was a bit fictitious but it is a reported story so I would assume it was accurate.

I remember reading about that when it happened.. And something about the relative or mother or whomever burned (or threw away?) the remaining ponies >__<

OP, this is a good time to teach your daughter to respect technology. Tell her how magnets can destroy hard drives and damage data and monitors (mainly CRT monitors). If either of you don't know if a magnetic can damage some form of hardware, you can research it together. It can be a great learning experience.

Every recall in the US has to be listed on http://www.recalls.gov/  I couldn't find anything about genuine MLPs, though fakies are always dangerous, since they're made in substandard places.

Thanks everyone! I mainly have the G1s that she plays with and she just got some of my old petite ponies. We have a couple of the G3s so I will have to be careful of the magnet.
