Almost done cleaning manky old ponies! Paradise at the bottom!!

So I got my hooves on a half-dozen manky old ponies from a friend of mine at work.  They were in, well, okay shape.

They were kinda smelly and really rather rusty inside, along with a healthy crop of mold, bleah.  (I spared you photos; you're welcome!)  But I'm delighted to report that, after a week or so of babying them, four are in pretty darned nice shape!

First, SHS Flower Dream.  I'd never owned a Sweetheart Sister - don't recall even seeing them in store - but she's one of my new favourites.  Love how the hair turned out especially.   She has a couple teensy marks on her left front hoof and also near her symbol on her NDS, but I can totally live with 'em.

Next up is Baby Firefly.  I have a Baby Surprise, so they can chum around together.  She was fuzzy and brown inside, but she's as pink as pink can be now.  Yay, Oxiclean!  Yay, disinfectants!  And especial yay for Colgate Optic White, my favourite weapon against rusty tails and mane roots!  She has a tiny eye-rub on her NDS, but one of these days I'll get round to getting paint and stuff and maybe fixing her up.  Or not; doesn't show, after all.

Next is Stardancer.  Never owned a Sparkle Pony before.  She's pretty neat!  The big orange blob on her inner DS was indeed rust, and a lot of it.  Good scrubbing and Oxiclean banished it.  Her symbol is a bit worn and rubbed, but otherwise, she seems to be quite sparkly inside and out, and oh her hair!  So clean!  A little tinsel frizz and tail frizz, but its easily handled.  Eventually.  I've been working all these past weeks, so spare time is limited, but eventually.  Eventually.  (Mañana, anyone? )

Last so far is Bubblefish.  She was the cleanest looking one of the bunch, but pretty gnarly inside.  I love me my Oxiclean!  Even her fishbowl started to look clearer, not easy to do with yellowed translucent plastic, but I'm pretty pleased.  A charm on a string and a smoothing out of her tail will help, but that's a project for my next staycation.

And that's how the update stands!  Four new, pretty ladies for my collection, all sweet-smelling and squeaky clean.   I'm working on finalizing SS Paradise's deflocking - she has some patches of blue that are prolly mold inside her, and getting rid of that's slowing me down on the deflock - and then a good sunfade to whiten her, and she should be right as rain soon enough.  As for Baby Tiddly Winks... well... she's in roughest shape of them all.  I'll be lucky to salvage her as anything.  But I'm game, and I'll keep you all posted.

SHS ponies are so elegant, aren't they? One of my two childhood ponies was a SHS so they hold a special place in my heart. Flower Dream looks so pretty!

Okay, I found this thread to resurrect it, 'cause I got finished with SS Paradise at long, long, looooooooooong last.  Here she is after three weeks in high summer sun!

Well worth the wait!   Her first two mane plugs are trimmed down to the vinyl, but I think it kind of gives her character.  And she's so chalky now, not the ecru blahness she was before, once all the mangy flocking was gone.  Yay for solar power, in all its incarnations!

We'll see if ever I get anywhere with Tiddly Winks... that eye rust is simply gross, and I'm thinking she might wind up de-beddy-bye-eyed.   Eventually, when I feel competent enough to try and spackle clay into her eye sockets. *shudder*
