I do agree with this in the sense of common ponies. In good condition, is pay $5-6 for a comnon. But I see these nirvanas and some go up to $800 and more! Isnt -that- a tad too much to pay for a toy pony, granted they are very rare. With $800 I could go abroad or buy more important stuff hah.

I dont think there is any harm in paying a figure in the high hundreds if that is what a pony is worth and if you can afford it We are collectors after all and there are a handful of ponies which do justify that kind of price. It is however not for everyone - I think its nice that we can all spend what we like, collect what we like without having to worry about other people thinking we are silly - after all we are all collecting the same adorable plastic pastel ponies.

I wish we had thrift stores here selling ponies for $1! back home they do, but you rarely get ponies. Here in the city, you find more, but they go for $3-$4. Mind you, I did get a little dangles the other week for 50c. But she's got pink something or other all over her NDS, and a cute little haircut. But G1 babies are so HTF here, I was freakin' estatic!

Doesn't bother me.  If someone wants to sell a pony for a really high price, that's their deal.  People can charge however little or however much they want.  We just don't have to buy the product if it's too expensive  
Though it does amuse me when someone sells a "rare", mohawked Peachy for an arm and a leg   I'm not bugged by it though, that just means the seller probably won't be able to get rid of his/her Peachy lol.

When I list small toys for $6 on ebay, I barely make anything because of fees and etc. And when it comes to ebay, the buyer always has the final say in the price. There are tons of steals on ebay too if you are patient enough.

As for me, 90% of my collection I have picked up second hand, and the ones that didn't come second hand were ones that are impossible to find second hand and worth a pretty penny. It's possible to collect, and not break the bank. That said, most people with large collections didn't gain that collection overnight.

What bothers me is when the buying community lets sellers get away with obscene prices, and/or prices have been driven up by hoarders.
