Three course dinner ideas
« on: July 25, 2012, 02:18:25 PM »
Hey everyone,  :)

My friend is coming over to my place tomorrow and I've promised to cook something for us. I was thinking about cooking something that has meat in it, but I'm vegetarian, so I don't know what I should cook. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Oh and I don't have an oven, so I can't cook anything that has to be put in the oven. ^.^

I'm not sure I've ever eaten a 3 course meal before..... I'm not actually sure I could hold that much....... I'll be no help I'm afraid. Good luck though! I hope you find something awesome! :hamster:

I was thinking about making a starter, a main dish and dessert. :)

Well I'd say some kind of soup...if you want hot for the first one.  Maybe a creamy soup, something loaded with veggies and spices.  If you want something cold, salads are good...with boiled eggs and cheese and tomatoes and croutons and bacon bits available.

For the main meal--roasted chicken is a good choice.  Or maybe submarine sandwiches. On the side, have a fruit choice maybe, and a veggie...corn on the cob?

Dessert...ice cream!  Or maybe cake or cupcakes.

I'm a vegetarian as well, and from my experience, no one is ever unhappy with free food.  I've never cooked meat for anyone and everyone's always happy to return to my house, even meat eaters.  It just depends on if the food's good or not.

Start with a nice salad of some sort.  Maybe a Greek/Mediterranean-style salad with feta cheese, olives, and maybe even some hummus and pita triangles.  Mmm.

For the main course, I don't quite know what to recommend due to your lack of an oven.  I assume you have a microwave, right?  Here's a nice base recipe for a risotto you can do in the microwave.  You can add any ingredients you desire, like vegetables, mushrooms, beans, etc. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/basic-microwave-risotto/detail.aspx

Third course?  Sorbet.  Just go buy some nice Haagen-Dazs.  XD

Thank you for all the great ideas. I want to try out all of these.
Ice cream sounds like a good choice for dessert, it's a sunny day today in Finland.
:)
