I have two important questions!

1: What are your five favourite horror or halloween movies?

2: What is your favourite monster? Vampire, werewolf, zombie, ghost...


My fav movies are Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Poltergeist, Hellraiser, and Bram Stoker's Dracula. I love vampires, and also zombie pirates! (PotC style!)

I completely sketch mine out on the computer. I made linearts for myself that are the actual poses, i.e. the G3 diva pose, and I plan out my custom right in that. So I decide on a pose I want my bait in, and plan it out completely.

1. Nightmare Before Christmas

3. Harry Potter series - I know it's not strictly Halloween, but I'm a huge HP fan, and it can tie in pretty well
4. Corpse Bride
5. I can't think of anything else right now...I might edit this later

I should mention, I am terrified of The Grudge. Literally terrified, I have cried every time I've watched it.

I am in to Kiki's delivery service, not really Halloween but still workable. The rest are scary/wouldn't make good customs.

Werewolf is probably my top favorite, but I like different facial poses like a big grin, a pensive face, or a howl.  That huge open snarl doesn't do it for me.  Vampires next but I don't enjoy the huge snake jaw people sometimes give them.

um i love all Halloween movies nightmare before Christmas is one of my favorites if its Halloween ill love it my favorate monsters hmmmm i love them all ghosts are probly my favorate

Nichi, you start with a sketch? I don't think I ever have. I go with an idea in my head, jot down some particulars, and go from there.

I do start with a sketch. I usually deviate from it eventually, but it gives me a visual jumping off point of what colors will work well together, how it might look when it comes together. My dad works in construction and he always told me "Measure Twice. Cut Once."  So this is how I incorperate that idea into art.  It's easier to take out the prismacolors and determine two colors should not go together than re-hair a pony and realize that and have to tare the whole thing out. lol. 

I actually did starter sketches for the Peacock Swap of 2010? or was that 2009? , The Steam Punk Swap (around the same time frame I think), and the Cartoon Swap that I made the Rainbow of Light and Darkness for.  My first commissioner sent me a picture of what they wanted.   I'll try to scan some of these sketches and put them up next to the pony they actually turned into so you can see.  Like I said, it usually get's changed by the end, but it does give me a jumping off point.

c)Also I love Peter Cushing as Van Helsing and as Dr Frankenstein.
d) Halloween Town
e)The Halloween that Almost Wasn't (or) The night the Witch saved Halloween
f) (Had to!) The Worst Witch (I love Faruza Balk!)

2.) Frankenstein's creature.  I always thought Dr Frankenstein was a big jerk for that.  I always kind of thought Frankenstein's creature was kind of sweet though.  But then again, I think the same way about WWE's Undertaker and Kain, or as I call them "My Boys".

3. Halloweentown (all of them)

I love Halloween Town! I like the first one the best though!

I'm allergic to cats, dust, and cigarette smoke; however, I do own a cat, and my husband is a smoker (though not inside my house).

My favorite 'Ween-y movies are The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Harry Potter series, The Halloween Tree, The Corpse Bride, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Hocus Pocus.

My favorite monsters... Ickis, Krum, and Oblina.

Well I don't like horror movies, I hate to be scared!!!  But I like:
Hocus Pocus, Nightmare before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Harry Potter movies, 80s greats "Teen Witch"!!!! & Beetlejuice & some 90s Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I don't sketch, it doesn't do any good. I never stick to it. All I work out beforehand is my color scheme. I will doodle design elements though, like symbols, to get a feel for them and whatnot.

I have two kitties and do suffer horribly from allergies but it's not something that has much to do with ponies, so no worries!

Halloween movies, eh? Hmm. I'm a fan of horror in general so I'm not sure if I have a favorite "Halloween" movie per se.

As far as monsters go... again, if it's creepy or twisted, I'm a fan

Nichi, that's cool too! I generally don't try doing that kind of thing, since I can't draw worth beans. Not pon ies, anyway. Not that I haven't tried before...

I gave up trying to get the mane out of the pony I was prepping - too much glue. I'm using one in the same pose that I had slated for something else and hadn't started yet. I shall continue pulling hair out (and hurting my thumb) later.
