What's with Confetti?
« on: July 22, 2012, 06:47:34 PM »
Every listing I see, from eBay to Etsy and beyond, has this poor pony with gross brown blobs around her glitter symbols.  I used to have her and I've been keeping an eye open to try to maybe replace her someday, but is she just specially prone to cancer or is it some kind of thing thats happened because of the colours or glitter or glue or something?

Glitter has a tendency to rust underneath. You're spot on, she's prone to cancer spots. Gotta love white ponies!

I was lucky enough to find a mint one on eBay, it is possible. But those white ponies with glitter symbols always suffer in the end sadly.... Starshine is another example, also Sunbeam... You hardly ever see them without the rust :(

In my quest to get all of the rainbow ponies, it seems like the first year's ponies have issues with glitter coming off, while the second year of the series has the rust problem.  I managed to get a rust-free Confetti by getting the UK/shy pose version.

She too me ages to track down without cancer and even the one I have who, last time I checked was in lovely condition [I dont look directly at her for fear of those evil marks :(], has some symbol rust. The rust and/or the cancer are pretty standard practice for regular trotting pose Confetti.

If you want an upgrade and are not too bothered about her being from a different country, you could try tracking down Italian Confetti - same post, different plastic so much less likely to cancer and no glitter in her symbols so no rust :)

I encounter the same problem when looking for Tickle, of course... it's so hard to find that girl with great symbols!

It's really the only thing stopping me from buying more of that series, almost everyone has rust :(

Confetti is such a gorgeous girl, but I've been having problems trying to find a nice condition one, too. She's always got spots on her. >.<

It took me a long time to find a good condition one.  Got mine at Pony Fair this year!

Aha... thanks, everypony!  Good to know which girls are prone to which conditions.  Poor things! :(

Speaking of rust and all... is it only the second-year rainbows that have a problem with symbol/glitter rust, or does that extend to the pegasus and unicorn ponies from the same year (Powder, High Flier, etc.)?  Things to learn... so many things to learn... my inner Twilight Sparkle is dancing with joy. :frolic:

Any of the adult ponies from years 2 and 3 can develop symbol rust - however out of all of them it occurs the most with the second edition rainbow ponies followed by the 1st edition rainbows. And pops up much less often on any of the 1st/2nd edition Pegasus & Unicorn sets but does occasionally happen [more with the second set than the first].
