« on: July 22, 2012, 01:24:26 PM »
I hope this topic fits here but if not than please move it to the right place. trhank you.

I read on some place that Twilight Sparkle might be an AS pony and afther thinking about there could be some thing in that since I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrom a few years ago and there are some behaviour I have which Twilight has too.

Just likeTwilight I like to be alone mostly and I always had got a very few real friends than we both have got problem during socializing with others.

I persoinally has got real problem to making friends with people in the same age expect via internet but I like to talking with younger or elder people.

I would agree that Twilight has some Aspergers traits.  I think even her "bookishness" could be typical--many people I have known/heard of with Aspergers are extraordinarily gifted intellectually or mechanically.  My guess is that the character may not have intentionally been modeled this way, though.

Some people are just introverts and/or like to read.  There is nothing wrong with that and that's how I have always been.  I don't like when people try to "diagnose" the ponies.  That's how we end up with :muffin: Pony style controversies.

I don't usually agree with attaching disorders to cartoon characters but yeah I can see her having that maybe. I've got it too. Was diagnosed in 2004.

Agreed. I'm an introverted person who doesn't make friends easily. That doesn't mean i have Asperger Syndrom.

I think that what's great about FIM is that everyone can relate to some of the characters--we can each find a character we share traits with, but the characters are also broad enough that many different kinds of people can relate.  However, I'm not sure that Twilight was designed to have AS anymore than Pinkie Pie was designed to have ADD.

I think the mane six are supposed to have traits and qualities that most everyone can identify with.  Some are shy, some are bookish, some are creative, some are athletic, some are outgoing, some are always ready to help out.  The list goes on.  If we can see some of ourselves in the ponies, (and we may identify with one or more), it just makes it that much more enjoyable to watch.  :)

Ditzy Doo has severe Strabismus. I have a mild case of this actually when my eyes get really tired.

I can echo this completely. Despite the fact my specialist was convinced for quite a while that I did indeed have AS, tests proved that wrong, and even this year over so far I've gained a little confidence and can manage social situations which I couldn't consider years ago. I think it was more a case of underlying anxieties and shyness than anything..

It certainly IS possible. I have it, and I see some similarities, which may be why Twi is my favorite out of the Mane 6. She does seem t have OCD too. Maybe she has both.

I think all the ponies have traits that people can relate with in one way or another.

That is what the show is about, to teach children about friendship and morals. They want us to connect with certain characters.

^This.  I'm glad you found something in her that you can enjoy and relate too.  To reference Virgina Woolf, nothing is only ever one thing.

Totally have to agree with Ashes.  I would not read too much into it, it is just smart to make characters that others can relate too.  Makes you want to watch it more.
