Absolutely gutted...poor Night Glider
« on: July 22, 2012, 04:54:21 AM »
Well, after my four year hiatus, I've started cleaning out the girls and guys of the Phoenix Herd as they were getting a bit manky.

Came to do my beautful, perfect, no hair cuts, no symbol/eye rubs, soft silky beautiful haired Night Glider.

She's no longer my beautiful, perfect Night Glider anymore.

PONY CANCER.

Big splotches of yellow-some with the darker spots-all over her right hind leg, on the right side of her neck, all over her face and ears. I could honestly just cry. It would just HAVE to be her wouldn't it? a HTF pony who I wanted for ages and was so pleased when I got her. Now I have to find a replacement. :(

It's just SUCH a shame because otherwise she's perfect as you could wish for. Her hair is BEAUTIFUL, it's not like it's even just on her body and I can swap the head for a less minty one, its all over her face as well.

I'm just completely and utterly, GUTTED.

Carrie

Oh no! Unfortunately I have seen quite a few of her develop this over the years - I am not sure if its cancer or regrind [to a weird grey/yellow colour].

Thats a terrible shame QueenGusty - I am sure you ll manage to find a new home for her if you decide to upgrade as she can be sought after even in poor condition.

My Nightglider popped up with a yellow spot too... :( only consolation is that it's under her mane and can't see it on display.  :good:

I don't know if sun fading might help her, but it might be worth a try!

Night Glider is really prone to regrind, sadly :( If you're any good at paint-matching, I've heard this is an effective way to cover up cancer and regrind spots.

:( sad to hear! There's no known cure for 'pony cancer?' that worries me.. I haven't had any problems so far.. but most of my ponies are G2-current. Does it spread to other ponies?

You might try a jar half filled with water and half with peroxide. I haven't tried a blue pony yet for color testing but I have a yellow pony in a jar. It takes weeks though and you must remove tail/washer.

No "cancer" is a break down in an individual ponies plastic - because its essentially within the plastic of that one pony it cant "jump" to another.

Blaaaarg. Night Glider is one of the most beautiful G1s, in my opinion-- I feel your pain! *hugs*

On a related note, I'm glad to see that the "cancer spreads" myth seems to be dying.

I highly suggest you not do this (likewise Removes Zit). White and yellow ponies are safe colours to work with as white ponies do not contain dye and yellow ponies contain a yellow oxide meaning its natural colour is yellow. All other colour ponies are essentially white ponies dyed, meaning a product that lightens spots will turn your pony white. Blue and purple are the worst colours. I think you would probably prefer a cancered Night Glider instead of a splodgy white one.
