MIB vs Loose!

I was thinking, whilst sending a PM to a fellow trader, what is better? Mint In Box ponies or Loose ponies??
The only thing i have MIB at the moment is a set of Ponytail Petite Ponies. (mostly because I can't afford the price of MIB/MOC stuff lol)....
Don't get me wrong, I think its amazing that some ponies from the 80s have surivived all those years and are still comfy and cosy in their original packaging. But....I also think its a little sad that that toy never got a chance to fulfill it's purpose! To be played with If the value of MLP as an investment is high up your street, then yes, it's a sure thing to collect MIBs - you could get rich off them suckers! - but I personally prefer the loose ponies. I wouldn't turn down a MIB if i could get my hands on one, however, the fact that that particular pony has been adored and loved, and played with at some point makes me feel happy. And I like to think that when the ponies come to me and join my herd, so to speak, they are heading into a comfortable retirement! haha!

I am a "loose and complete" girl but sometimes a loose and complete minty pony is even tougher and occasionally even more expensive than a MIB so I have a mix of both - but I ll always sell on a MIB when I have that pony loose and complete.

i persnaly like the loose ones..  and recently after seeing  toy story 2 and hte prospector  it makes  me a little leery of  mib ponys o.o you never know >.>

but yeah i liek the loose ones becuase that  means that they  were all loed.  and have storys attached to them. while the one sin the box seem.. oh i'm jsut in a box.

but on that note thre are a couple i would  keep in the box. just ebcuase i would liek to keep them.. perfectly clean.. but i'm horrible at keepin thngs in boxes so i rip them out

Depends on generations, and the condition of the box.

G1 and G2: If they're in the box, I'll keep them in it.

G3: If the box is torn/ripped a lot, I'll take the pony out, and keep the box. Unless it's a Euro exclusive in which case I'll keep it in the box.

G3.5 and G4: OPEN! Unless it's a Euro exclusive in which case I'll once again keep it in the box.

All the ponies I own are loose, and any G4 I buy gets removed from package, but I'd really love to own a G1 MOC.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MOC ponies! They're amazing, but, if I don't have it loose also, I usually sell it because I am too tempted to open it (like my MIB baby brothers, I would rather have them loose!). I collect MOCs of ponies I already have, so softs in particular because they're my favourites!

I actually liked the used played with ponies, but that being said if I come across a MIB one I want....I don't intend to open it.

I like to set them free. :B However if it's a very old one I'd leave it in its box, wouldn't feel right to open in that case.

I like my G1's and G3's loose.

But all my G4's are still in their box or packaging.  If I feel the need to free one though, I just go buy another one.

If inside manage to get MOC ponies I would also prefer to have a loose version aswell! I don't think I'd last without opening her and setting her freee. :-) its lovely to hear a lot of you Like freed ponies though!

I only have loose G1's, I have some MIB and some loose G3's, and I have one of everything G4 MIB and any doubles I set free!

This!  I prefer my ponies and horses loose and if I have a mib I sell it when I get a loose one.
