Winger?! how to remove her head?
« on: July 17, 2012, 02:26:11 PM »
... and I hope that the answer isn't simply "very, VERY carefully!"

She's so delicate and I don't want to manhandle her in the usual way i have to do when be-heading ponies, also, i can't boil her! Too afraid of damaging her very nice wings!

I'm sorry if the answer is right under my nose, but I have searched for wingers specifically, with no luck!

Oh, and I have to rehair her, because she has an army buzz!

Thanks so much<3

I've done this before...

Take the pony and hold her head under hot running water then just keep twisting / wiggleing the head until you can get something like a thin rod ( I used a small crochet hook) then you can pry the head off

but yes BE CAREFUL hot water is you enemy and friend

in the ones i have done I have used an xacto blade to carefully work thru the glue on her neck seam (but careful not to cut deep enough to get her neck plug)
good luck

The only ones I've had to behead had awful wings that needed to be replaced anyway, which makes it easier.  But the heads came off just fine with just some hot water and a lot of patience.

These are excellent suggestions, the best advice ever:).  I use both hot water and exacto knife combo, plus a little pulling.  Her head will be easier to remove if her plastic is soft.  I've removed heads from very hard plastic bodies, and the hot water trick is very helpful to melt the neck glue.  I have torn the neck seal before (eek!) but was able to prevent a full blown disaster.  Sometimes accidents happen no matter how careful or skilled you are.
Best of luck with her, and please post pictures of her when she is done:)
