Im driven absolutely nuts by this whole thing..!

Been locked out of my bank account since all this started, Im luckier than a lot of people in that I dont completly rely on my bank for money, otherwise we would have really been stuck. I couldnt pay for things on ebay because I cant use my credit card, so I ended up having to sell stuff to get cash into my paypal account..and I still owe money to people, I got 500euro into my account today and said great Ill pay everyone off, Just logged into paypal and still cant use the damn thing!

Angry isnt the word!! grr anyone else feel my pain lol

woe is me :P

Yep the first weekend it all kicked off there was no money going in or out of my bank account. Made worse by the fact that my OH also gets paid into my bank account. It got sorted last Wednesday though, thankfully, and Paypal seemed to be quite understanding as I had several payments that were backed up. Really want to change banks as there is even a  local branch within easy striking distance of where I live but it could happen to any bank.
Luckily I had enough money to do food shopping on me, I rarely carry cash on me though so it was a close thing.

Ugh pink..you managed somewhat so..

I have a friend who both her and her hubbys wages go into UB and they literally had no money to feed their kids, had to go to provident(similar to the payday loan crowd, where the interest is something lkke 1700%) and theres gonna be no compensation for people like this apparently! Absolute joke, its still not fixed here and theyve said another week realistically.

Ive an O2 prepaid card..have to top that up now if I can go into the branch and draw money..Theyre doing all the lodgements and withdrawls on penand paper....1980's banking a la Ulster bank! lol

Yeah, I've heard of it, it's all the rage at a tech news site I frequent. At the heart of the problem is greed. RBS shouldn't have outsourced the maintenance of software to India and cut local jobs. Also, apparently, no backup system.

It is a mess all right. One that shouldn't have happened. Why didn't they have a backup system in place that will kick in if the main system fails?

Oh! Bugger.

Both my mother and I have our main savings accounts with RBS. Mine has been functioning fine as of recent (as in a few days ago) with PayPal, so perhaps I've not been affected.. the mothertron doesn't seem to be experiencing any problems either, but I suspect when she hears about this, she will freak. :yikes:

Because she's medically retired (and has been since 2000), she replies solely on income support and whatever else she recieves from the government. That is to buy the groceries, public transport and whatever else is required in the week. My father barely contibutes, because the man is an expletive. XD

RBS have been a bit.. rocky for a while now. We're considering changing.. but which bank isn't on a sinking ship right now? They're all almost as bad as each other.
