Flutter Pony wings..

OK.. i know this as probably been rehashed until every one is blue in the face but
I just wanted to post this to let people know..
I have several flutter ponies in my collection and I have learned how to make my own custom wings...
I was wondering does any one else make thier own customer flutter pony wings ?
or have you all purchased the replacement wings from the nice lady in germany?
just wondering.

whatd you make them out of?
i typically use, no lie, recycled 2 liter bottles and different types of nail lacquer or acrylic paint.

I bought the Flutter wings as part of a lot of accessories on eBay. They had broken tabs when I got them, but I repaired them with a bit of scotch tape and a couple bits of clear plastic. Overall they look pretty good on display!

And yeah, for making repro wings, using the curved bit at the top of a 2 liter plastic bottle works great, and nail polish is good for making them pretty-- especially pearly or glittery kinds!

tho i found the templates on here.. i couldnt get those to dl.. it works so well dosent it.? its so strange.. i have to wonder did they not have flexible plastic in the 1980's?

Working on making my own. Have 13 pairs that just need that finishing touch... (That's my plan for tomorrow if it's gonna be 100F out.) Took an entire day to cut them out and glue film on them...

one liter.. like umm tonic water bottles work too.. if you wanna sharper curve.
turned out well on one of mine..
couldnt get my claws on a 2 liter

I haven't yet, but I do have a broken butterfly that I am planning on properly pulling apart and making into wings for one of mine. This sort of thing:

It's not my original idea or anything, but you can get them quite cheaply and I think they would be cute.

Those paper wings are cute, but I bet they'll be quite fragile.
My husband usually drinks cans of soda so it took a long time to save up soda bottles...

There are a couple of great tutorials around as well as some amazing bespoke wings I have seen over the years. Its tough to track down original flutter wings so I love some of the unique styles people come up with as place holders or to complete their flutters.
