What constitutes grail and can it change?
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:49:10 AM »
Hi all, I've been wondering, what makes a pony grail worthy, and if you get your grail can you have a new grail?  It's like Kim Gordon in that Sonic Youth song, "All your dreams will come true, all my dreams came true, but now...I have a bunch of other dreams"  or something like that.  Anyway, thoughts on the matter?

I just thought it was the pony or ponies you wanted the most. Of course that will change over time :P

OK, I thought it was the ultimate single pony, but if it can be more than one, I have a lot of grail to obtain :P

Good question my dear!  I believe a "grail" pony can be any pony you seriously desire for your collection, but may have a hard time attaining.

What makes something grail worthy is completely down to an individual collector as it is the pony they most want - so it could be as simple and common [ish] as a G1 Starflower to as financially draining and illusive as a South African Bow Tie. What one collector wants is not necessarily what lots of others are looking for - therefore our grails are each our own and what makes them grail worthy is both because we "wish" to add them to our collection as well as perhaps because the pony has sentimental value or completes a set or is just that one pony we NEED to have. :)

My "grail" changes as soon as I find one and have to move on to the next :P

I dont have pony grails any more but accessory grails...for YEARS :P it was Baby Diamond's necklace and then an amazing Arena member [love you CuteyBina :)] helped me track this item down. But after a few weeks although this still remains my fav and a [past] grail, my current grails are now the Great Hair pony accessories.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Like others have said, a grail is something that varies between collectors. As long as you really want it, then it's a grail! It doesn't matter what it is. :)

I always thought of it as something you really really wanted for your collection.  Some of my biggest grails have not been all that valuable or rare.  They were just things I wanted with all my little heart that I couldn't buy because I didn't have the money or I couldn't find them in good condition.

I've only had one pony grail.  The G1 baby dinosaur costume.  The day I got it was the best pony day ever (I got it through a raopk).  Since I haven't had a new grail.  But maybe someday I'll want something as much as I wanted that. :)
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.
