West Virginia storm/ update on me!

I have been without power since Saturday night due to a massive storm in WV.  There are many people without power and some without water.   I am staying with my parents who have a generator.   I am at  work taking a break, there is power here and internet access.

If I am slow to reply it is due to lack of power and no internet access.

I hope everyone else affected by this storm is OK!

That is fine, I have things in the mail I am expecting.   I might be able to make it out there soon to check on the house and mail.   At least work has internet!  (@ lunch now)

My Mom called me a few hours ago and they now have power, so at least now I can sleep comfortably!   Not sure if the internet will be back up there just yet, but the power is a real blessing.   It has been in the mid to upper 90's temperature-wise here.  It's been unpleasant to say the least.

See you all later, I am about to leave work now.   I'll have to call my landlord tonight or tomorrow to see if the power is back there yet.   They live right next door to the house I rent from them.

I have been sending up prayers for my cousins and hope they are ok all we got was a bit of rain here in my home state. I saw what happened in the paper and holy cow scary!

I'm so sorry to hear that your power is still out. =/ I'm in Eastern Kentucky and the freak storm Friday night made us lose power for almost 24 hours. Really glad you have a place to stay with your parents til your power comes back on. Hang in there.

Thank you all!!  I mean it, it is nice to have people care!

My parents now have power, and internet!   I haven't been able to get a hold of my landlord yet, but I hope that soon I can go back.   At least I had a place to stay. 

The storm was awful.   They called it a "land hurricane".  I thought it was a tornado and hid in my bathroom with my dog until it passed.   Very scary.   Thankfully here in the mountains things like that don't happen too often.

Yeah that's definitely a very nice thing about living near the mountains. Most of the time they discourage the tornadoes from fully forming. I heard about it being referred to as being like a small hurricane too and I believe it the way that wind was going.

Yes, I know from my window I could see the wind swirling the trees.  I also live near a river and I could see the wind picking up water from the river.   I was just relieved that no trees fell in my yard or the neighbors' yards.   I know many people had damage to their homes from fallen trees.  One of my neighbors did have roof damage though, the wind tore off some shingles.

We had last night's storm loosen a piece of siding on our house above the back porch door a whole lot. Fortunately our power stayed intact this time though.
