Starlight Whisper made from a Talking Celestia
« on: June 29, 2012, 09:20:43 PM »
Edit:  I am actively looking for more of these Talking Celestia ponies at inexpensive prices. If any of you find one at a thrift store for a good price I am completely willing to buy it off you. I want to have a few to experiment with and figure out how to fully take apart so that I can create a proper tutorial for everyone! If you have found any recently or have one you'd like to donate(meaning I'll purchase) for this venture, please let me know!

So I got a talking Celestia bait from a member here in the Arena (knitgirl thanks again!). I'd been looking for one to try and customize for a while, and I was excited to get my hands on this girl. Well after discovering she was possessed... I decided first off that the voice box had to die (it went off on it's own several times @_@) I wanted to keep the ability for the wings to light up though, so I really didn't want to just remove the batteries.... So a friend of mine figured out that if he cut the speaker grill out of the back of the neck we could stab the speaker inside and disable the voice box that way while keeping the wings able to light up. After killing the speaker, I just filled in the open speaker grill with apoxie sculpt, as well as smoothing out the legs with apoxie sculpt. She's totally covered in glitter too, all of her spots and her horn :3

her hair is Cherry Pie, Butterfly, Key Lime, and Water Nixie, and her wings are covered in black craft feathers.

I'm still working on some accessories for her, but I couldn't wait to show her off, so I'm posting her up now :3

No light up pictures?  She looks really good, I love the feathered wings. And as mentioned above the colors are really pretty.

thank you :3

I don't have any light up pictures because the lights are really hard to see... I'm still trying to figure out how to fix that issue, I'm thinking I might have to scrape some of the black paint off the wings where it's covered well by the feathers

She's Gorgeous but I have to ask, how On Earth did you get her hair/voicebox out?
I've been wanting to customise her but I'm at a loss with prepping her.

with a lot of difficulty @_@

to kill the voice box and keep the light up wings in tact what you have to do is cut the speaker grill out tof the neck. If you look down into the neck then you'll be able to see the speaker inside the neck. You'll be able to see a plastic sheet that covers the speaker, just cut that plastic a few times with an xacto knife and poof, voice box goes byebye. That plastic sheet is what vibrates from the speakers to produce sound, so if that gets cut, the speaker can no longer produce sound.

I haven't figured out how to fully take Celestia apart yet, but I do have some ideas, so if anyone can get a hold of a few more of them cheap for me, I'd be willing to pay for them to use them to try and get one fully taken apart so I can figure it out fully... until then it's hit and miss really on how to get this thing customized.

Now for the hair... you have to get the head off, and I found that the only way to do it was to cut about a 1/4 inch slit up the back of the neck on the head and then pull and use a small screwdriver to pry it off the neck joint, also heating the head up with a hair dryer helped. After you get the head off, hair removal is the same as with any pony.

The tail took a lot to get out... I finally ended up cutting the tail super short and pushing the rest of the tail inside, and then using a thin long pliers to pry the hair out a few strands at a time until I get everything out.

Getting the tail back in was the hardest thing I've ever done @_@.... be aware that you're probably gonna have to mess up her back end a bit in order to get the tail back in... so there will be patching with apoxie sculpt @_@

I wish I had a better solution to it, but until I can score  few more of these to try customizing, I'm afraid I really have nothing other than bruite force and patching with apoxie sculpt as a solution.
