what should I do with this Steamer?
« on: June 29, 2012, 12:16:15 PM »
This guy has SHOCKINGLY PINK hair! it's gorgeous! it's original!
forlock trim
he has a couple stains on his face and one foot

and....
his  whole body is VERY blotchy from REGRIND

I tried to take pics in different lighting to show it - he is literally purple and pink blotches all over and it's VERY noticable in person

I'd like to sell him, but I DON;T want to see him baited

what should I do? what should I price him at (I price my bait boys at $12-15, I so I would price him a bit higher to discourage baiting)

Give him to me!!!! hahaha. I would not bait a G1...I did one and I have hated myself for doing it:( Granted I have no funds to send you...so I could not buy him but I do have some G3 baits to trade:P among other things.

I do think if you listed him on the Arena site to go to a collector you might get a taker...as they would promise to keep him as a collector. I would take him and any pony that has faults I take them all...regrind...pindot mold.....I even keep those with holes:) If you can trade send me a PM:)

I am FLIPPING OUT over his hair!  Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!  Definitely not a pony to be baited . . . I would offer him at a low-ish price (or for free if you're feeling super generous) with the condition that he not be turned into custom bait (and that the buyer not turn around and sell him to someone else for custom bait, because that would not be very honest).

I did that with a Quackers I had that had INCREDIBLE hair (especially since Quackers usually has frizz) but regrind spots on her body.  I was happy and the person getting the pony was happy . . . I just had them pay shipping . . . It all worked out!  :)

I'd buy him from you. He could keep my Salty company (he's my only boy). I could never bait a G1 either!

Wow, I think there are lots of people out there that would love a guy like this.  That hair is simply gorgeous, and the spots on him don't seem too bad at all.

The regrind appears to be on his non display side, I say keep him. I tend to ignore problems when they're on the NDS.

You would not see me bait a Steamer in a million years. XD He's my favorite big brother, and his hair is so pink! I am sure you can sell him.

You could remove his hair and put it on another Steamer, with faded hair and nice body.

He's handsome!  hard call.   keeping him would be the best option to preserve him.  or maybe sell him to someone you've known for a long time that isn't bait-trigger-happy?

arghh I had the same problem with steamer I kept him for a year cause of his hair but the regrind was to much in the end. I sold mine for a lowish price to someone that doesnt mind issued ponies she will never bait him. I think most people who are willing to buy him will respect your wishes and cherish him as is

Oh that hair is gorgeous!

I have 2 Steamers with varying issues. 1 has a haircut but I don't have the heart to bait him. His body isn't too bad.

He is gorgeous and the pink in his hair is awesome! Its kind of tough to prevent someone doing something with a pony which you sell to them as it of course becomes their property so if you really wanted to prevent him ever eventually one day being baited you ll need to keep him and of course one day he will be that amazing highlighter pink completely.

But I am sure [and I think already in this thread] there are plenty of people who would happily offer him a roof over his head as a display pony rather than a custom bait so you should hopefully be able to send him on his way with the comfort of knowing he will be appreciated in his very pink glory!

I can't get over how beautiful his hair is! I'm not against baiting, but I feel it SHOULD be avoided when possible, and I'd say that the hair alone makes him worth saving. As you can see, plenty of us don't mind flawed ponies (I don't mainly because of budget constraints), and I know some actually prefer them because they feel they have more character!

Save him/ give him or sell him to someone you know will love him as is, I say.
